Deep Deep Sea... What is there?
So I finally got the seamoth about an hour ago and decided to go venturing. First thing i found was a cave about 200m below surface and about 3 minutes from my base, i wanted to go deeper in it but i was scared of what could be lurking so i got what i could and went back to base.

Then i decided to go find this cave again but i was unable to do so. Instead i found a weird flatland underwater with blue coral and floating balls that were tied down. This was roughly between 250-450m. Not entirely sure what they are or if they are a resource collectible because it wouldnt give me a name when i was near them.

What I am wondering though is has anyone else found these insane drop offs? I found one that went straight down and followed it all the way to 1400m deep until i said this is nuts and turned back because i couldnt see anything and i was scared that if i got out i would die from the depth.

Does anyone possibly no at this stage in development if there is anything down that deep or deeper and also is the rebreather necessary? Does it actually do anything for you? I currently have the radiation helmet equipped because the radiation field is pretty wide around the ship but i am not entirely sure what the rebreather is supposed to do. I know it says it ignores depth and temp conditions or something like that. What exactly are those conditions?

Anyhow just wondering for the most part if there is anything that deep in the game as of yet and if a rebreather is necessary at all.

There is nothing below around 400 meters...yet. you can dive limitless deep but you wont find the bottom of the sea, another biome or anything because the map isnt that far designed...yet.

I think i took some health damge when i left the seamoth without the rebreather in those depths. u dont die instantly. U can try it.

Okay was just kind of curious. Think it would be cool to find creatures that deep where it is so dark and they are always luminescent. Maybe more crafting possibilities as well like a suit that lights up instead of needing to carry a flashlight with you or other possibilities.

There is the inactive Lava zone deep below the safe shallows area (900m+) that can currently only be accessed with a terraformer and a lot of time. I've also found a deep lava-y cave not far from the Grand Reef (entrance ~500m, ~800m at deepest point)
basically, the dropoffs are where the developers havent gotten to yet. there are a few that are in the actual detailed areas of the map, those are basically places where the devloper held the mous click for a bit too long using the sculpting tool for the terrain, and didnt realize they did so.

There is the inactive lava zone and that's between 800-1200m deep. Below that though there is nothing but sand and darkness.

You can get to the inactive Lava Zone via the lava cave in the Grand Reef. It takes awhile to get to though, you just have to keep diving through it. Eventually you'll get to the lava pools and the lava castle.

Thanks for the info! Time to take my reinforced Cyclops on a journey.
I found a massive drop off with jagged spikes sticking up out of it, some big enough to reach the surface

I'm absolutely terrified to go down, it looks like it goes DEEP

That would be the "Grand Reef" biome which have yet to be properly tenderized (missing plants/marine-life/etc.) but even though that I've tenderized many kinds of animals and fish, the "Grand Reef" still gives me the creeps and I work at a meat factory after hours!

Link for "Grand Reef" artwork showing off "Membrane trees" as well as some fishies!

The thing that scares me the most of the Grand Reef is the ridiculous pop-in that occurs. More than once I've been zipping along and suddenly, "ZOMG I am about to run into a giant spike thing!"

And those giant floating pods will supposedly be made to explode if the player gets too close. I hope they fix the pop-in issues before that happens because otherwise, those things will be extremely irritating.

that ball its floating it will be ''floating pod'' and in the future will be membrane three there in the biome :) look here http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Flora WARNING:spoilers in the wiki

There probably will be Sea Emperor. It's biggest creature, but it's not added.

For now. Its size will increase to be larger than the Reaper Leviathan.
if you hear a big growl in the background and you are swimming around in your seamoth or even without it its better to swim back to base believe me...
