PIck up sand
Kinda annoying feature I must say. When I want to pick up a salt, I go clicking right at it, and sometimes before I pick salt I make a hole in sand around the salt, I`m actually digging there. This feature could be bind to other key or left for terraformer tool only.
It`s actually good, when you need clean sand from your foundament or reveal the beacon (couple times i managed to set under ground), but when you collecting things from bottom and clicking everywhere, it just not very good, I think.

It's a legacy thing from when you could use salt to make silicone and glass before they switched to quartz. I honestly would like to see sand make a comback for glass. That said, I do agree that without it doing something functional, there's no point in the 'grab sand' thing except as an annoyance.

Well.... I hear you, yes... making glass from sand would be very rational and applauded. Maybe what I meant, that the keys should be separated - one, like LMB now - to pick things... and the other to pick sand... oh why it can`t be RMB?

Maybe there should be resources IN the sand? That would make it worthwhile :-)

Quartz is really easy to found dude seriously....

I do find the digging sand thing annoying and cool at the same time...

+You can dig around boulders and dig out obstacles a bit (i.e. expand a hole under stinging jellyfish to avoid getting stung, in some cases I have burrowed INTO caves just being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and digging for the hell of it)

+It does help level out a plateau when you want to lay a foundation, I find it much easier to control than the Terrformer's abilities. (On that note, I kind of wish you could select what terrain you lay down as the default weird coral thing is a bit odd looking.)

-I wish it were bound to another button, as the OP states I have dug plenty of holes in the beautiful ocean because I am quickly collecting items (perhaps at least let you cover your hole up?

-It can be a bit destructive to the enviroment and you can dig rather deep with it...

Quartz is beautiful to find

Looking for SALT is a living hell. But, Quartz is easy as hell to find! Seriously...

I have to agree with having resources in the sand. It makes sense to have x fistfuls of sand to create silica (seeing as how sand is mostly silicon dioxide), then for x amount of silica, you can create 1 silicone (or glass). Otherwise, if the sand is not going to be a useable resource, then dont let us pick it up with our hands, maybe only pick it up with terra former? Also, using quartz for silicone...? Are you serious? It is not like Silicone is SUPER USEFUL anyways, yeah some of the best equipment uses silicone but that is only 1 of the several ingredients needed. Also, quartz is not as abundant through out the entire map as people make it sound. I re-started my game three times because even if I waited for night time, I could only ever find five maybe six nodes of it. The third time I restarted, it was everywhere! Either get rid of the sand or make it useful.
