Why can't I deconstruct my simple hatch? (solution found)
So i'm playing with mods and stuff and I simply put a single hall and a hatch on it. nothing else and then i try to deconstruct the hatch and it says "can't deconstruct underwater should be deconstructed first" so how am I supposed to fix this? there is nothing online about this specific error

this is an older screenshot of the same thing but still will absolutely nothing inside. I can enter the hatch by the way.

OK. This is weird.

I am struck by that strange turn of phrase, "underWater should be deconstructed first."
Subnautica error messages don't usually make that kind of spelling/syntax error.

Is that meaningful to anyone?

Ignis ... Ignis ... Ignis:
(In case you have a 'Beetlejuice' script running)
Does this make any sense to you? Not a common puzzler.

OP:
Are you able to deconstruct the Multipurpose Room?
(Probably not; you would have to remove the Hatch first.)

Have you tried just backing further away from the Hatch before trying to remove it? Or perhaps going on top of the MPR before targeting the Hatch connector? Or (this is extreme and comes with its own problems, but may provide useful information, going INSIDE the MPR and removing the Hatch from the inside??

"terrain extender, terrain patcher, reef editor"
The easiest would be to remove on Mod after another to check if they interfere with the Game. If you can deconstruct the Hatch after removing the Mod(s), the problem is obviously the Mod and you should contact the Mod-creator.
Have you actively used the Mods (something edited/changed) or are they just installed at the moment?
If you have edited terrain and remove the mod, then chances are that some of the things you have constructed will be buried inside the terrain when you load your save. Happened to me before when running an old save on a clean install.
What are the coordinates of that construct you are building in the shot? Thought I'd have a look around and see what I can see.

To get coordinates, press F1 and look at 'Camera world pos:'. As an example, it could be (-802 -729 -237). Do not warp to those yourself, down in Lost River, without having a base near by. But if you do, type warpme to get back to saftey. Warp 0 0 0 is basically your starting point.

Hi everyone. I am currently facing the exact same problem. I built a large room and a hatch, before realising I built at the wrong place. When trying to remove the hatch, I get the "Can't deconstruct. underWater should be deconstructed first" error". The same happens if I try to remove the hatch on another building. I simply cannot deconstruct hatches, it seems. There is a Reddit thread of someone having the same issue, and he did not mention using mods. However, I am using mods myself, including Terrain Extender, Terrain Patcher and Texture Replacer. I am not sure it is a problem with the map, as the problem persists in 2 different spots (I am building on the outside of the Mushroom forest). I will duplicate my save and try to see if removing mods helps.

I figured it out.

I had the same issue and I started getting rid of my mods to see which one is the issue.
The issue for me was the "Seal Submarine" so if anyone has this installed you should get rid of it and then try again, should fix the issue.

If you do not have this mod then you will have to deinstall all your mods and readd them one by one to figure out which one the problem is.

Edit:
Apparently installing "Building Tweaks" and using full override it should also fix the issue so it's worth a shot if you do not have the Seal Submarine installed.

Brother you are coming in clutch. Right as I posted my earlier response, you commented. I did have the Seal submarine mod and removing it did indeed fix the issue. You are a godsend, thank you. :Cleaning:
I had a look at the SEALE team Discord and it's apparently a known issue. It can sometimes be fixed by downloading the Building Tweaks mod from Nexus. In my case, I'll just forget about the Seal mod, which wasn't that important to me anyway.

Yeah Building Tweaks has a "Full Override" option which removes any and all restrictions when building anything in Subnautica thus allowing you to deconstruct things.
However Building Tweaks seems to have some issues of it's own, most notably text spam and potential for base pieces dissappearing so I also just got rid of the Seal for now because I do not want to deal with more issues.

Never heard of Seal Submarine but been using Building Tweaks and Terraforming for some time. Problems only begin if I try and load an old save in a new install, but that is true for any mod not present I guess.

Do you run into the same issue as described here by OP?
If so Building Tweaks should be able to override it with it's Full Override option

No. Not really. The 'Attach to Target' and 'Full Override' work very well.
And Terraforming removes any blocking obstacles and terrain quite easily.
Although I had a problem with and anchor pod growing through a multipurpose room a while back. I think I had the mods turned off loading an old save. It solved itself later when I re-installed the Terraforming mod.

Interesting because I don't use any terrain mods and Anchor Pods simply dissappear if I build something into them and never return lol

Just remembered. I had a room I could not remove in the Shroom cave. It was built over a piece of debris that reappeared inside. I could not remove the room for that either, no matter what I did. So went back to and earlier save (not too old fortunatelly) where the room did not exist.
