Not true, i didn't know this. And other people don't know this, so this can still help some people at least.
I'm talking about the fact that Steam stores your save file for certain games in the cloud, i had to wipe my hard drive. However, most of my saves are still there after reinstalling my games. I just assumed that every game has this nowadays
just cause A B C game has X feature does not mean game D will also have that feature
treat every game as unique and dont expect any feature as you do NOT want to find out the hard way it lacks
now for a actual answer to your question instead of a philosophical one
the games save files are massive in size and as such impractical to store in the cloud
make manual backups if you want to be sure

Other platforms, even Nintendo, don't seem to have this issue. I'll still play it on PC with keyboard/mouse, but as someone with a home gaming desktop as well as a laptop, cloud saves is an area I really wish Steam would figure out.
