Scanner rooms are indeed pretty useful. Can't say I'd spam them but you can always get your resources back after you are done anyways.

One of the best "forgettable/I didn't even know that" tips I can give players is to remind them you can eat raw Bladderfish to get 15 seconds of oxygen. Per Bladderfish. Also, the benefits of planting Brain Coral samples in exterior Growbeds in area's you are doing "work" underwater.

Eating bladder fish gives you 15 extra seconds?

Yes. Eat them raw for +15 seconds of Oxygen, + a little nutrition and - a little thirst.

I also suggest avoiding the Cyclops in a Hardcore run, for only the reason that the thing can k i l l you sometimes.

You do NOT want to die in a Hardcore run to your Cyclops glitching out and bludgeoning you to death like a posessed gigantic baseball bat.

Hardcore really isn't that difficult if you're familiar with the game. The key strategies are just to be patient and prepare every time you leave base, making sure to avoid taking any unneeded risks. However, a few more specific tips:

- Always leave over-prepared on any expedition. Bring multiple med-kits, bottles of water, and food items at all times. Take things slowly and return to base to re-supply earlier than you would on a Survival play through.

- You can carry more than one oxygen tank and switch between them for extra air. This can serve as life insurance in a pinch (make sure to fill the tank after crafting it)

- The most likely source of death in the early game is drowning in a wreck. Take large wrecks extremely cautiously (do one room at a time, head out with 60 seconds left)

- The drooping stingers in the Degasi base in the Jellyshroom Cave are a common source of death. They can be removed with the propulsion cannon. If you are stung, stop moving. Your health will eventually stop draining and then slowly replenish. Make sure to bring multiple med-kits when heading there.

- A careless and surprisingly common source of death is getting run over by your own Seamoth. Always bring it to a full stop before exiting

- Craft the Reinforced Dive Suit ASAP to provide extra insurance from predators and environmental hazards

- In the very-late game, the biggest threats are the Sea Dragons. They have the ability to instantly kill you with a single bite, even at full health and with the Reinforced Suit. Approach them with extreme caution, preferably in a PRAWN suit. If you have to swim in the lava zone without a vehicle, make sure you're carrying a stasis rifle
You can add more 2 deaths scenarios.
- Getting trapped by a mesmer fish in deep area while running low on oxigen. I was exploring a cave with only 40 second of oxigen left and a mesmer trapped me and I coudn't escape so I had to khife the fish and when I reached the surface I only had 2 seconds left.
- Exploring the last Degasi base near the squids. I left my Seamoth parked near the base and while exploring the base my Seamoth got destroyed. I was returning with low oxigen and started panicing. Swapped the oxigen tank and had to rush to surface with seaglide.
