Solar Panel Depth
Has anyone managed to confirm the depths listed on the wiki page[subnautica.wikia.com]? I've got some at 300m (trying to chain them with the extenders to a base at 520m~ deep) though they seem to otherwise be not getting any light, let alone 40%~ charge.

Edit: Stuff like this is why it might be nice if we got the power generator back, with an ability for it to recharge power cells from solar power for more deep-bases.

Edit Edit: Nevermind the transmitters seem to be otherwise useless at depth, trying to build a chain of them down and they won't barely reach more than 1m away from each piece, bleh.

You know i have not even tried it, i just assumed it needs light so i always put it close to the Surface. Like 10M to 30M, I thought that the Deep parts "Too Dark" so i did not try.

You peaked my curiosity now lol, I will check out the Wiki and give it go and see how it does.

I think the maximum depth for solar panels is somewhere around 400 meters and even then you need a lot of them set up to put out the power that just a couple can do near the surface. In the upcoming stable update there will be other ways to generate power as well as solar panels becoming more expensive to build (2 titanium and 2 silicone).

I've got some at 200~m at the moment, which according to the wiki should be getting at least 60% light, but so far it hasn't shown that. Add to the extenders at deeper depths seem to have like no capability at all so rigging up a solar farm at 200m and trying to stretch it down to 500~m with extenders is apparently impossible.

I tried to power my base located beyond the island, by connecting it with extenders through "the eye" with my surface solar farm, but i was not able to get those extenders bringing energy that deep too. perhaps they dont work correctly when going vertical for longer distances yet?

I've had them at 300 meters and they worked for me, though I am on the experimental branch and it took 12 panels to produce enough power for my needs

Well it's not that they don't work, it's just that they don't work efficiently. Issue for me as I noted (and it seems ovaron) is that our actual complexes are deeper. To be more detailed, we're building our solar arrays up at 200-300 meters so they reach sunlight to some efficiency, and trying to extend the power down to the base.

It's the trying to extend them is where it seems to fail as they won't reach barely any distance at all :P

Indeed, the arrays work with 200% on surface but the extenders wont spread energy deeper then about 50 meaters or so. First i thought i might just be an invisible connection, but power definately does noch reach down there where the base is placed. I ven tried to put them in a minimum distance of aproximatly 5 meters to each other..

I can say (2 years after) that 295 meters down they do not work.
But at 250 I got 8% sunlight.
