Storms in Subnautica?

You know, for a world made up of mostly water, it's seas are pretty calm; where are the hyrricans, the 50 ft swells, and the rough seas? I think having a weather system in subnautica would make the game more realistic and add more interesting game play. As an actual diver, I can say that the weather does make a difference - whether you're on the surface or 60 feet down.

OMG. I want this. I don't know why, but a good weather system can make or break a game. also, the aurora exploding in the middle of a thunderstorm would be EPIC. I would'nt be able to throw money at the screen fast enough.

If the waters swell and crash, particularly in the shallow areas like the starting zone, realistically it would move the escape pod, potentially far, far away.

That happens to boats without anchors - I think it would just encourage the player to make a base as quickly as possible. And honestly I think that would be so much fun if that happened. Rollercoaster ride!

Yet one more good reason to get the hell out of the pod and start building a base where you can weather the storm out. Once you move out of the pod and in to a base the pod beacon is somewhat superflous anyway, a storm would be a good way to despawn the pod as well as add some player narrative in the form of feeling exposed because your first safe haven has been lost.

Yeah but the pod is the only emergency reserve in the game. No matter how bad you screw up, if you completely flood your base and trash it, sink your cyclops, whatever you do, the lifepod is still there with power so you can fix the issues and I'm sure the devs want to keep it that way.

That's not entirely true. All a player has to do is exit the game without saving and re-enter the game at the previous save.
