Agreed, it's not really [Logical Choice] for an Advanced Civilization to use on a "Terraforming Mission", especially Underwater lol.

It would be a Nightmare! Use up all your Endurance, not to mention being extremely Chunky. Surface "Battle" maybe, but not below. In the end you would have to choose the [Tools] best "Suited" for the Job at hand.
