Subnautica v.s. dxtory
Hey there! Got a lil problem starting Subnautica with dxtory active in the background, so i can`t record the gameplay. It goes like this: dxtory active on desktop, opening steam, starting subnautica (standard settings), little window opens: Subnautica doesn`t work no longer...
Got no anti-virus programms or anything else running in the background. Any ideas?? Greetings from Germany, sorry for my bad english..

I use OBS and it works fine for the game.

I haven't had problems with Subnautica and Dxtory. When I record though, I do put Subnautica in windowed mode. I haven't tried it full screen.

I always play the game in 1280x720 for recording.

I've been recording in 1920x1080 windowed, only because my monitor is 1920 x 1200 and YouTube wants 1080p.

Don't suppose dxtory supports recording the monitor output, rather than the game itself? Helps with titles that have issues with recording and streaming software.

I don't stream, so don't know. Dxtory is free to try though. It just puts a watermark on the video. You have to buy it to have any usable video, but you can figure out whether it does what you want beforehand.

OBS is free, period. No watermarks.

Yes, but Dxtory records separate audio streams. I tried OBS.

Separate audio streams? Meaning what? Multiple sources of input? OBS can do that too.

I meant multiple sources of input as separate audio tracks in the resulting AVI file (up to 4). You can then copy both audio tracks into separate files to take into Audacity if necessary. I only do that for the mic track to boost the sound levels and run noise reduction. You can accomplish the same thing by recording the mic separately with Audacity and recording the game with OBS. I found Dxtory easier to work with.

Well to each their own - OBS is free, dxtory is not. Can't expect everything to be presented with a neat interface.

It was a close call for me. OBS is compelling but I ultimately decided that Dxtory was worth the money to me.

You can also download play.tv this records source, so no matter how you set up the game it will match. You can then either use play.tv editing suite, but it is in Beta so it has a lot of missing features and settings.

If you want you can edit it in a 3rd party editing suite, most accept the format that it is recording in.

Also Win 10 has a default recording software, I haven't used it yet, so can't recommend it that much, but if Dxtory isn't working or you are having problems, these 2 alternative programs are a choice.

Also if you have a Nvidia card and supports Shadowplay you could try that option. Dxtory is a good program, so I hope you manage to get it running.

Shadowplay is rather poor - And most streaming apps can use both NVENC and the AMD's version of it.
Hey thanks for all the answers! :) So i tried it in Window mode with dxtory: subnautica.exe doesn`t work, tried it in non-window mode in all sizes that u can use: subnautica.exe doesn`t work. Will try OBS in a few minutes for the first time. If that doesn`t work.. will search for play.tv. btw got shadowplay on my pc but subnautica is not on the "List of Games that are working with shadowplay" so it won`t even let me start recording.
