edit: take the seamoth and bring a beacon to mark the way out.

The difficulty is finding an entrance to the jelly shroom cave:
There is an entry big enough for the seamoth, where bone sharks roam the red weeds, with three big holes in the ground. It's located more in direction of the Aurora heck towards the grand reef, but close to the edge of the safe shallows. You have to search the direct edge between the safe shallows and the red weeds and follow a nearby creepvine plateau. The entrance is about 100m deep.
In the newest updates you find biters at the cave bottom, so I advice you to have health kits equipped, the seamoth and seaglide with you. But with the new seamoth updates you also get the sonar to better find the entrance. So I generally advice you to search this cave with the seamoth.
Yes, but OP was referring to an actual item called "Jelly Plant" which can be found near the cave system in the mini-shallows biome right up against the Aurora. The Jelly Plant looks like a round purplish ball covered in pink spots which glow in the dark. You can pick it up like quartz or mushrooms, and it won't scan. I'm fairly convinced it will be used for crafting something but I don't know what.
If you aim just right, there's this glorious reaper-free shallows-type zone right up against the Aurora between two chasms—with reapers hanging out on either side of it to the north and south; I went too far north and one spawned directly in front of me, but if you can successfully stay within the biome boundary (the point where the music changes) they won't spawn.
There are trenches, coral, and a fairly extensive series of caves with quartz and jelly plants, various types of fish (hole fish, hover fish, peepers, rabbit rays) and a substantial amount of scrap metal and acid mushrooms. Also boxes! Lots of boxes. (Many of which glitch in fascinating ways.) And of course, the Jelly Plant, which can be found in some of the trenches toward the south near the cave system. Just avoid the two super-deep chasms to the north and south, pressed against the Aurora's hull. They're hard to miss.
The chasm to the north is where you enter the ship to get to the engine room.
I'm going to start a new game, save one time in the pod, and then see if I can make it to that area alive before the aurora explodes. There's this little sandbar where you can stand and look at the ship, and I'd like to be standing there when the fireworks go off. ...Unless it's not timed but rather related to how often you exit and enter the life pod... in... which... case... um...
