Will something be done about the edges of the map?
The edges of the Subnautica map have no boundaries. You can literally sail right off the edge of the world and nothing will stop you. I enjoy exploring the Subnautica world, but it becomes jarring to me when I accidentally push too far out and come across the edges of the terrain and there is nothing left but the abyss.

A question for the devs: will the edges of the map be given barriers to keep players from wandering where there is actually nothing left to explore?

If I recall correctly, after you cross the boundaries you will be in the arctic biome, I don't know much about it though, but I know that you won't be able to surface to get air due to icebergs.

A quick Google search doesn't reveal anything about any arctic biomes being in the game yet.
i think they have plans for a procedurally generated world that loops

There is an easy solution to sea boundaries if the engine can't manage the illusion of endless sea geometry:
Let the far sea be guarded by impossible to defeat dangers:
- high currents
- leviathan sized predators
- endless predator swarms

As they're always there it feels natural to keep yourself in the "safe haven" of the island rich area.

I'd personally use leviathans to swim around the islands and start to make dynamic current appear more frequently and dangerous the more you approach the world border.

I don't know what the devs will do, but an endless ocean planet with no landmass and only floating islands offers them a lot of good possibilities. More than in games like Skyrim, where you need artificial boundaries acting like glass walls.

What islands are you talking about?

That would only feel good if the map is giant sized like Skyrim and bigger. But at least it would be better than a hard edge.

Correct me, but I think every landmass in Subnautica has no bottom. My last deep dive proved it to me.

They hadn't floaters at the bottom, sure, but the game landmass is still in development.

Well, what I had in mind was something to let me know I have gone too far before I wind up somewhere I'd rather not be. High currents to push you back could work, maybe, but I don't think I want to deal with dangerous creatures attacking me simply because I wandered a little off track.

Apparently you can do a "quick" Google search and find info about it.Here you go, the wiki has its concept art at the far bottom of this page :
