Hell entrance? Update: The Void
So I went on a little expedition with my newly crafted cyclops only just and I've found something very interesting. After getting past some huge octupuses and this giant dragon-like monster there seemed to be nothing more of interest. The area became wide and dark. But suddenly an enormous underwater mountain appeared and it had something like a vast entrance to it.

Upon entering this thing there was a rather small, pitch-black and somewhat scary corridor which had one turnpoint and then ended into a blind end. At least to the front direction because after looking under me I realised that it was an endless hole. My Cyclops was able to take 400m and then again I descended another 100 and no end in sight.

Have you ever found something like this, too? I'll definitely explore this anomaly again - I don't mind a little nervousity and scariness down there. x)

Update:

The Hell: The coordinates are approx (-1227.7, -221.8, -453.0). Sadly there's not much down there, the hole just ends at 800-900m. But it's an interesting place nevertheless and this place could make an interesting location for a base I think. Given you can use a nuclear reactor, since it's just a giant corridor cave with flat walls and a dead end. :)

The Void: With the hint of the user "Steve the hunter of tri." I've found something like that can only be described as The Void. While he mentions a hole/cave that ends into nothing, I've found a cliff at approx 500m that did the same. Here I am 1000m deep looking into the sky and the Cyclops:

On the next one I'm 2000m deep and as you'll see, there was literally nothing you could see in any direction. It was pitch-dark nothingness. Wonder how deep someone could go, I've only taken 4 upgraded tanks with me on this expedition. But it was for sure interesting to experience that deepsea feel and it was a little redemption to enter the Cyclops again after swimming 2000m deep into The Void without any vehicle. :)

Hope you like it and go explore this things for yourself.

I believe thats the entrance to the inactive lava biome. Also, what kind of "creatures" did you get through?Reaper leviathan?Thats the only thing I can think of.
Where is this?

Yes, it was a reaper leviathan. And the entrance is in the West, you'll be probably able to find the entrance if you look out for a huge underwater mountain. Provided that it's indeed the inactive lava biome and that it's in the same place on all saves.

I'll try to explore this hole regardless, just need to farm a few more Plasteel ingots. :)

@The Doctor: I encountered 2 reefbacks and 1 reaper leviathan, no more and no less.

@FadEnetwork: No idea about the coordinates, but it was in the biome made entirely of vast sand valleys and almost no ressources other than metal and some quartz. I dunno if the reaper leviathan is something exclusive to that biome.

Ah, I see.I thought you meant the sea dragon when you said "octopus" and I flipped.Anyways, you can check the coordinates by pressing F3.Would be happy if you sent us the coordinates so we could check it out too.

There are a few entrances to the inactive lava biome. Or at least there used to be; not sure if they are all still there with all the map changes.

Eventually it bottoms out at around ~1200m, with various lava pools and a giant rock formation in the middle of it all.

There are three entrances to the Lava Zone. One in the massive Deep Grand Reef cavern, one below the front of the Aurora and one to the northwest at the end of the Dunes biome (looks like a large ringed hole).
That reminds me of something that happened to me. So I was exploreing the deep Grand Reef and I found a large cave where I built my 3rd base. I decided to explore the cave more when I saw orange...an orange line of lava going down. I followed the line of lava down to a place of pure darkness. I kept going down until I found some place that was similar to a platform. I "landed" on it with my cyclops and exited the drivers seet and went to the back...the was when I looked at the top of the screen. I was almost 2,000 meters under the ocean. I was both shocked and terrified. I thought would I be going down forever? What creature might lurk here? Will I ever get back? I was in a void of pure darkness...all alone. I couldn't take it anymore and I exited the game and deleted that save file. the only reason I would ever go there again is to block off that doorway into darkness...

@The Doctor: I'll give you the coordinates asap. I'm currently out of my home so you'll have to wait until around Thursday.

@Steve the hunter of tri.: Jeez, that sounds not only freaking scary but also super awesome! Please please give me the coordinates of this hole. I want to experience what we actually have way worse on our earth - the fear of the pitch-black and unbelievably abyssal deepsea. I want to sh*t myself too. :O*

Oh, an important question regarding this topic: How could I be able to descend that much? How deep is my Cyclops able to go with upgrades and are there any tricks to O² supplies taking with yourself?

O2 tricks?Well, rebreather, fast fins, the sea glide and as many as large O2 tanks you want. Also, I think it can go up to 250 or 200 meters deep before taking damage.
