Is there an option for making the windows more transparent? They're quite foggy after the update

No, it's the reflection from the interior lights. The only real way to make them clearer is to use the trick to turn off base lights. Make a completely detached tube and puncture it (prop gun or Prawn attack will do). That compartment will flood, but your main base will be fine. You'll be able to walk around with no lights and much better external visibility.
