Did you know there's a hot spot in the Sea Empress chamber?

I was swimming around in it and started to get burned. I was able to add a foundation platform and thermal reactors on top of it. I took screenshots but they don't seem to register in steam when I search my screenshots. If you are standing in front of Sea Empress's face (facing her face), its the wall to the left in the far back corner. Just swim upwards until you start to see the burning effects.
I was very happy to find this as I can't stand using anything but solar and thermal to power bases. I'm sure this is common knowledge but just sharing the info anyway.

Pretty sure it's NOT inside the Sea Emperor's containment tank, remember that right outside the facility is literal hell, chances are that's the "hot spot" you felt.

There is another one behind the exit portal as well. If you cross it, the Sea Emperor disappears. If you hit F1 to see the biome info, the game actually registers you in a different area. Even stranger stuff happens if you take a Seamoth or Prawn into that area.

I did it out of kindness. Apparently they take a long time to die. I set her up with some humane cuddlefish therapy/hospice

Hmm, i'll have to check it out. Thats much closer to the base (in between that portal and the sea empress). Thanks for the info
