Subnauticaverse
One question: we had
Subnautica (1)
Subnautica: Below Zero (which is for me 2)
Subnautica 2 (which should be 3)

So: why is it called Subnautica 2, which makes a bit trouble in the Subnauticaverse?

Subnautica Below Zero is considered a spin off instead of a sequel

ye below zero is kinda more of a side game

Below Zero was initially hoped to be a DLC for original Subnautica, but turned into a separate project along the way because they added too many new things.
For this reason its basically a DLC sold as a separate game, an irrelevant spin-off.

Subnautica 2 meanwhile earned the right to be swap the numbers.
1) New engine;
2) Completely different planet;
3) Hopefully a completely stand-alone story / plot. No more precursors and what not.

Thx. Then I hope the new engine then was worth the effort.

Well, it IS the Unreal Engine (5, I think), probably the most successful first/third person game engine of the last 20 years (basically forever, in 'computer game years', which are shorter even than dog years), so their is reason to hope.

BZ is a good game but the first one is much better IMO. Nice big spaces to swim around and explore along with tiny caves and coves. BZ is basically like all tiny caves and coves and I think they even slowed down the main speed to make it seem bigger. What I did love about BZ though was the pretty biomes and music CDs you could find and play in the base. I also thought the sea truck was pretty cool because I hate the cyclops (but i'm definitely the minority on that opinion)., Either way, both are good games IMO but if its a choice, definitely the first one

I really enjoyed finding the remains of that one ship. The uh, what was it. Mercury?

BZ took place on the same planet and dealt with the same story about the virus so they are closely related games. I hope Sub2 is as imaginative and has as gripping of a story as Sub1. BZ was a bit too hand-holdy and we never had to go as deep.

A little bit sad, that, how complex it is, there is no real difference between the rounds; I play both 2-3 times, but again?
A random generator for the environment etc. would have been nice ...

Because Subnautica Below Zero is a spinoff, not a sequel
