Seriously, why does the cyclops run out of power so fast?
So, I decided to finally go to the lost river in my cyclops, and it was at 80% going down the hole. I left it for like 2 minutes to explore an alien thingy, and when I came back it was down to 8%. I had 2 engine efficiency modules in there, and I'm pretty sure I turned off the engine while I was gone. Is there anything I can do to conserve power?

Engine efficiency modules do not stack. You will also continue to use power while it sits idle if the engine isn't turned off, or if other ship functions are active like sonar or the shield.

You must have left something on like silent running, sonar. or shield. The Cyclops has very little drain just from movement. You should have only lost maybe 4-5% from that trip. There is normally no drain when it's not moving.

Engine efficiency only reduces energy use from moving, not from any other sources. As was said above, they don't stack, so take out the second one.

As above. Silent running is almost never really needed; just keeping to slow speed and watching the mini-sonar to the right to know when to stop, will keep you safe from most threats. Sonar should be clicked on and off for one ping only. The shield can drain even a full load of ion cells down in moments, so should also only be tapped on and off to avoid impacts. Always make sure you switch every one of those off before leaving the sub. Interior lighting and leaving the engine on but stopped do not, by the day, draw power.

Lava larvae from the lava zones could cause an issue over time, but that's just over time. Wouldn't have happened in 2 minutes.

Thanks for the answers, I think I left sonar and silent running on

Silent Running uses a lot of energy even when not moving. I prefer to use the Thermal Reactor upgrade for the Cyclops, as you can park it in hot areas to regenerate energy. However, I still always keep some spare energy cells ready.

I use silent running whenever I know there's Levi's around, it might not look like it does something but the radius is reduced to basically nothing when you use both slow speed and silent running together as I always keep tabs on where threats to the Cyclops are so I can see the difference between with and without.

Show us your health and energy counters in that screenshot, otherwise it looks like creative mode.

I dont care how that looks, this kill was legit

Rammed him 4-5 times, i mean even without shield if i remember right.
Really noting special, just waiting for him, Full speed, forward, ram, low speed backward, repeat

and btw you see the hud, who cares about energy, you can do that a dozend times with one set of energy cells

this here was a not legit experiment

To be on the extra safe side, I keep a spare set of 6 power cells in a locker onboard. And while I'm out going places in the Cyclops, I have another 12 power cells in chargers at my base. When I get back, I swap out any used cells for new ones.

Don't try to be clever and put a power cell charger inside the Cyclops itself. Trust me.

Creative mode does not show energy or any consumptions, but I'm glad it made you upset. Too much clout seeking crying these days, as for energy as another said make plenty of power cells and keep them on you.

During the early days we never had moonpools, I had to charge the seamoth by hand for a long time.

Yep, Cyclops ramming is how I usually kill them. Reapers are uniquely easy for that - other hostile leviathans will, when rammed, flee to a great distance and then return to their normal AI, now well beyond their normal aggression radius from you. Reaper 'flee', turn around, shriek, and swim right at you again. And again. And again, until dead.

It make you happy when other people don't like it when you accuse them of things that aren't true?

Given that Levis WON'T attack you directly AND it's easy to switch between survival and creative, yeah you can't exactly blame someone for going "wow, you sure got "big boy pants" for being in the risk free mode" If you're going to make a kill at a Levi at least have the balls to do it outside of creative mode.

do you have powercell chargers?
if so remove them as they will drain energy super quickly in seconds
