Unless you mean you can't you use keyboard, which is very odd.
Furthermore for VR to to well using keyboard+mouse or regular control you really need a few mods. Qmod Manager for any subnautuca mods, VR Enhancements, and VR Y Axis Unlock.
That being said the visuals are immersive and work well with the fact your character wears goggles.
But some of the toughest *gameplay* issues for me were mitigated by modding (I recommend Nexus mods (unafilliated)). You can at least get support for things like Snap Turning and UI customization there, which really helps the experience.
It's fun in VR when it's not a constant struggle against the UI/UX.
I used to freeze about 10 min in with the old one - just randomly stopped working.
The new controller worked like Magic in every game I tried so far today. So I was Like, I just gota try Subnautica with it HOPING it would work cause its An awesome experience in VR the little i got to see.
I it worked perfect at first but I froze - should I say game was running but I lost controller support. I reloaded and restarted 4 times. Each time it did this I was exiting the drop pod. Left stuck out side with no control. 3 times up the ladder then one through the floor. During these 4 play attempts I got out 3 times for a swim - Just saying each loss of control with a brand spanking new controller was exiting the pod - left stuck out side with no control yet game is not froze.
Devs should license a full VR port to VR porting specialists.
xbox controller works fine in vr.
All Unknown Worlds Entertainment needs to do is google "VR Porting Specialists" and make a deal with one of them.
I did. Didn't buy. I did tell the devs they can hire specialists to finish a proper VR port. Subnautica VR would probably be in the running for VR GOTY 2021.
There is a market for both Types of controls and actually A big part of Why VR has not taken root as much as it should is there is often TO MUCH focus put on Swinging punching and so forth, Some games you need full motion support, I Got stormland and im about 12 hours into the 6 hour sp mission, Taking my time loving it. That kind of game I want the abilities the motion controllers give
Thing is im 56 years young and had 2 weeks off work and Monday I go back - I been sitting to much so its got me on my feet. Once I go back to work the last thing I want to do when I get home is Swing punch or stand.
THE Missed Market and what might make VR mainstream is bring almost any game you have out there to VR - If you can make it work on a controller you can move it to VR.
I honestly would prefer to play a game seated with the head set on than view it flat screen.
I also would Prefer my controllers over my x box controller even If im just using the sticks and buttons.
ATM I have limited room to move and actually look for such games. I do hate it when I see controller needed other than race games But there are types of games that are made for an x box controller. Simply do good ports and do not listen to those that whine WHAT DOES that do for vr (some games) its what does VR do for that game and There is a big missed market.
