Quick Q about base building and using console commands.
So I started the game in Survival mode for my first playtrhough, and for the most part I'm loving it. I'm finding the base building tedious though. I feel it takes up way too much time and I heard online that you can switch your game mode via console commands, so I was thinking of swapping to Creative mode to build the shell of my base and then back to survival to populate it.

I'm just wondering if this will mess up my achievements or does it have any adverse effects? I might back up my save file just in case but wanted to get some help first to decide if I should or shouldn't do it.

Honestly the base building is one of the more addicting elements of the game. It's literally just the problem solving of acquiring correct resources.
And once you setup a large enough storage room where you will just stockpile everything - it will become much easier to manage.

That's fair, thanks bud. I just need to up my game so. I've only just started getting my hands on Kyanite so I think I just need to not be a little ♥♥♥♥♥ and build my bases better haha.

For one thing, building a base is hardly even necessary to completing the game. If you just put in the bare minimum you're ready to go.

Second, I don't think creative mode would help with base building being tedious. It saves you having to collect the materials, but the frustrations of positioning and pieces obstructing one another would remain.

You're probably better off just not bothering with base building if you don't find the activity fun.

If you want to build very large bases in the game, I recommend using the Cyclops as a large locker and gathering all of the materials you need in advance. This allows you to build it all at once instead of starting, running out of materials, stopping, collecting materials, and starting again.

You can build over 100 lockers on the sub, so go to resource rich biomes and fill them with the key base building materials -- titanium, quartz, copper, lithium. It doesn't take as long as you'd think if you do it in an organized fashion. I find the Prawn with drill arms the best way to gather large amounts of copper/gold/silver/lithium, but titanium is quicker to gather via metal salvage and quartz is faster to just pick up in biomes like the blood kelp forest.

I'm just taking the game really slowly honestly, making sure I can be comfortable at each step. I've just found the Thermal Plant and I'm assuming I'm pretty far down. I have the Nuclear upgrade for the Cyclops and since I posted this, I've torn apart most of the base I built in the shallows and now I'm using the Cyclops as a rolling base that I park up near a Heat Source and then come to and from it with the Prawn while I do whatever I'm doing.

I just like the idea of having a few bases at different depths to do different things in haha.

I think this is definitely the best course of action for me tbh, plenty of resources in tons of lockers to keep the ball rolling haha. Thanks bud!
