EU paying more than dollars equivalent has been a thing since the euro was introduced, that's nothing new they have used $1= €1 forever, you aren't going to buy any games at all if you stick to that princple. though i'm sure once you include US tax it's pretty equal.

similarly norway, UK, switserland paying more than US equivalent isn't a big deal either.

poland, mexico and costa rica paying more than the US equivalent is pretty interesting though.

Nah bro. Me sticking to that principle is how I play their games without those devs or publishers getting a single cent from me. We are not on console so there are ways to play while paying less than their official prices or even for free.

And sure, they wont care if they dont get 30usd from me, but I care that my 30usd dont reach their pockets. I REFUSE to pay more than those from wealthier countries for the same digital product.

i guess just do the thing that causes prices in your region to go up, use a VPN and buy your games in the cheaper US? :D

VPN? LMAO!!!! Im going to buy a key and if there's none available i'll get this game for free. Bold of an indie company to get as greedy as AAA publishers, especially when they can't afford to get Denuvo... Oh well.

it's usually steam that does the inflation adjustments and related price increases, especially for the indie/small studios. same with sales.

steam makes a suggestion and most of the time it's just smart business wise to agree, they do know a lot about how to make money on their own platform after all.

This game was released on Jan, 23. 2018. You had SIX years to buy it for the original price, including a ton of sales. AND it is still available on alternative shops like the Humble Store, also with sales every couple of weeks.

To complain here now is not just dishonest and "complaining for the sake of complaining", it makes you also look quite stupid, tbh. However I get that it sucks on principle when stuff gets more expensive, but not for a 6 years old title.

Steam reduced the regional pricing in Mexico for like 15% but Unknown World considered that an increase of 130% was fair. Then I consider fair to download this game for free, simple as that.

It's one thing to be principled for something overall important, but in this case... idk, it just feels like such a small thing tbh. Even with a 130% increase in price, it's just not that much more money to spend, or so I assume.

Is the lack of such a great game to play really worth taking such a stand on this small hill, at least as I currently see it? Genuinely curious.

I mean, to see a game price go up 114% for no reason is pretty weird, but it looks even worst when it's on sale, I get that fake black friday taste that the product price is half its double soooo, yeah, doesn't look like a good practice

I get the issue with the practice at large; we've all had moments like that.

Yet in this particular case, Subnautica is 30$, so a 114% increase in price (compared to base 100%) is... 33$, because of that 3-ish$ increase in pricing. And in the case of a 50% off sale - which for a 6-year-old game, is basically guaranteed - the sale prices are 15$/16.5$. Not including tax in all that.

^Whether you're buying at full or sale prices, the increase isn't that much more money for a one-time purchase, at least imho. In the sense that it doesn't seem like a good enough reason to swear off buying it entirely, just because of one price increase, I mean; it kind of seems like making a mountain out of a molehill, somewhat.

It doesnt matter, it still shameful how this indie company want to bleed people from third world countries by charging them more than people who live in wealthier countries.

If it was the same exact price than what americans are paying I would accept it, it's still fair. But Unknown Worlds can ♥♥♥♥ off if they think I'm gonna pay more than those from the US just because they decided to punish us for living in a poorer country.

Thankfully on pc there are ways to play a game without giving greedy companies a single dime.

Is it the company, or is it just steam itself doing so? Do you know for certain, are you just assuming it's the former?

If it's the latter of either statement, hypothetically (since I know know atm), those are entirely different issues, even if your stance of not buying period would/wouldn't change - it's unfair to blame a company for what the platform is doing tbh.
