There's an area around one of the crashed lifepods at 300m depth. Nothing dangerous in that area except those plants that shoot spikes at you. It's a good place to pick up a fair amount of rubies.

If I remember right my early safe ruby spot was near some blood vines and I think it is the one with a crashedbifepod mentioned by Suzaku. I found a video on youtube that showed how to get there.

I took my seamoth with 3 storage compartments filled with the right supplies and built a tiny base with a scanner room and powered by a bioreactor fed by melons on pots (same room). A beacon at the base and one at the top entrance spot made it easy to find on later trips. The scanner made it VERY easy to locate the rubies in that dark environment.

Just don't wander from this area (Crag Fields and Lifepod 19) too far because you might get too close to behind the Aurora and Angry Shouty bois.
