Large Aquarium
I just built my first big aquarium. My thought is I tried stacking two on 2 floors. They connected. That makes me wonder if I can double the number of fish to it and how many fish it'd hold.

This looks like a 200 gallon aquarium or more. It' is pretty big.

not sure if you can double the stuff but i know you can only have 10 in aquarium

guess we'll find out if a 2 floor connecting aquarium will double that. I'll let you know I've got a pair of peepers and airsacks. We'll see how long it takes to increase their numbers.

I may have to build more rooms. I have one tower going to the surface. May have to start another.

You can stack as many large aquariums as you like in a tower formation and put as many fish as you like as well. I recommend putting two of each of every variety that have the best food to water ratio for eating. Doing so allows them to breed and multiply over time.

Is it possible to get the blueprint currently without using the console?
Lark Feb 26, 2016 @ 4:13pm
Thanks Phaota. Good to see you again.

I did that. I put some plants into it too. Still haven't found farming stuff yet, but I was hoping I might get plant food as well. The plants are just starting to grow.

I have a bunch of peepers and airsacks in my double aquarium. Looks like it goes beyond 10 when you stack.

I am getting concerned about adding agressive fish from eggs. Will they kill all my fish? should I place them in a seperate tank?

Don't know Tenzek. As far as I know you start with a few, but have to scan the rest. Can't remember what all I started with though.

I think I read somewhere that you get everything in creative mode. But I haven't tried it.

i have been wondering about this issue as well (if stacking aquariums increases the fish threshhold). it appears that you can indeed have more than 10 fish in a larger aquarium (i have a tripple stack and am reasonably sure i have more than 10 fish in total, but have not actually counted) BUT, when i placed two peepers in after already having a large swarm of other fish, it has been several days and so far they have not multiplied at all! so i am wondering if it increases the total fish cap, but not the breeding cap? this is frustrating... as it appears that once you hit the original 10 fish cap you will no longer breed any fish! making it nessesary to have seperate tanks if you want to farm fish AND collect them...

also, i can confirm that hatching predators in your aquarium makes them totally docile, both to your other fish and yourself... at least while they are in the aquarium. if you move them outside they become full sized and revert to their normal agressive levels.

i had the large aquarium blueprint from the start of the game in my most recent survival game. it is likely that they will eventually move it to fragments and make you find it like they have done with most everything else. thats ok though. its kind of the whole point of the game afterall... finding the blueprints to build stuff.

Does plant life count against your fishy numbers? I'm curious because I stacked 2 large tanks together and placed 4 creepvine seeds in the bottom receptacle and let them grow to their tallest along with the peepers and butthole fish (holefish) I initially had in there and went on my merry way only to come back to Jonestown, the day after. All, but one peeper and two butthole [fish], were dead, floating at the top of my tank! Now, I've just brought back a couple of eggs and dropped them in, after bringing out my dead (I'm not dead, see...I feel fine...), so I'm anxious to see what happens there. Thoughts, ponderings, ruminations?

I do apologize, I didn't realize [rectal, not wild donkey, sphincter] was considered a bad word. I do my best to not offend, but (not that kind) I guess everyone slips up, now and again.

It seems like it might have been better to just make a new post, rather than necro an old thread. (that's my opinion anyways)

As far as I know, plants do not affect fish populations capacity/limits. I got a double high Alien Containment with like 20 fish in it (Air Bladders, Peepers and Reginalds), along with a pair of full grown Creepvines and a few acid mushrooms.

When you make a post, you can edit it later on. Mouse over your posts, in the upper right are a few icons that will appear, one looks like a pencil and should have a tooltip of 'edit'.

Plants don't count against you. Plants use that inventory storage looking interface, while wildlife is free roaming.

An alien containment needs to be 2 tall minimum, for planted creepvine seeds to grow right (and you plant the seeds. planting the vine will not give seeds).

Sadly, you can not plant standard or shelf coral to help with disinfected water or computer chip ingredients.

You CAN plant acid shrooms, but that's a risk putting them inside. later you can get "Growbeds" which will let you plant those outside.

The population limit is supposed to be 10 per floor. things SHOULD be fine unless you manually overpopulate, but EA game, it can get buggy.

For example, I keep wall lockers stuffed with spare live fish just in case now.

Example 1: My first two story tank was a mix of reginalds and airssacks. Grab some of each to top off my food/water, save game.

Load game later, the entire tank is now Reginalds...

Example 2: Now I have seperated my reginalds and airsacks into their own two story containments (with a bioreactor between them). grab some of each, top off my food and water, save game.

Load game later, half my reginalds are dead. And my airsack tank was 17 dead, 2 live (so 19 total, which is below the 20 count limit of a two story tank).

It's the vicious cycle. If he hadn't necroed, someone would probably have told him "Use the search function" for making a new thread.

admittedly i often necro an old thread if it containes useful information (that hasnt changed) and that i can add to. some people get offended, but i have gotten the impression that it is not fully taboo here. i do always try to search for what im looking for either way however, so as to help avoid 7000 threads on the topic of lethal vs non-lethal weapons (see what i did there?)...

My due apologies, I corrected my mystake for I do not wish to be changed into a newt!

When I stacked two, the fish population doubled. Be aware though that even if you're in the shallows you must use reenforcements or when you attach a large structure like a moonpool nearby, your base might spring leaks all over the place.
