Anyone else only Play Subnautica once then never again?
So basically I played the living hell out of Subnautica when it first came out. 66 Hours of it. 1 play through. After I beat the game, I never touched it again. March 14th, 2018 was the last time I played it. So I was wondering if anyone else did that? Only played it till they beat it, then haven't touched it since.
I've seen some YouTube playthroughs, but I'd always stopped right before the reached the Ghost River, or whatever it was called. I'm trying to avoid anything related to Sub Zero as I want it to be as fresh of an experience as possible.

Chances are that if you played once and dropped it, you would not be skimming this forum.
I tend to play through a new game every month or two. Currently over 1000 hours.

Still play every so often. Have played 258 hours. Started fresh play through again after about 3-4 months of other things. Calming and relaxing game. The environment is the best i have seen
I agree, the environment is the best I've ever seen. It's the best texture and model pop-in I've ever seen in years, very subtle to see grass appear directly near me and only because I was looking at it.

See if you can download the version from 9/2019, before the "little big update". It was much less buggy then. (Not quite sure about the pop-in. Maybe someone else can compare.)

I played two times from start to finish (around 100 hours), after that, I don't find any compelling reason to play it again. The environment is so stressful that I felt relieved when I could finally said goodbye to that hellish water world.

I'm on my 5th game, this time on Xbox. First was EA and I gave it away before I got too far. Second was after release, finished it on freedom and spent a ton of time. 3rd I did it again on survival, was a quick run. 4th was just me on creative mode, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around until I decided I was bored

My 5th is on xbox, things definitely feel clunkier and large bases are WAY worse on FPS and whatnot, but its easy to jump into and show off to friends. I ended up getting my whole household playing

Sounds like you were on the forums too much. I avoided the forums and played 278 hours on my first play though, and I bee lined it best I could. It took me over three months of daily playing to win. I missed a ton of stuff. I got the cyclops at the very end, and only got the prawn suit when I couldn't go deeper. So I went to the pod and started and read logs then read about the Aurora and finally figuring out how to get in. Then I basically finished shorty afterwards as it was a straight shot to the end once I got the prawn suit.

These adventure type games, it's best to avoid the forums if you want to get your money's worth and not finish it in a month or less.

I remember my last quick adventure. Diablo III. It took me two weekends to finish the whole game. I was so bummed. $60 for 4 days of gaming and it was over. No reason to do another quest as I discovered everything in order to finish it. I played a couple more time in hopes updates added thing, but nope.

Do not find it buggy at all now since the last big update.

My first playthrough was 60 hours, the second 40 hours.
Whenever I got stuck I checked the wiki, my backlog is immense and I just can't stay that much time wander aimlessly.

have you travelled to the power station or the prison in the prawn when you made this post? i believe you might change your mind about it

i've been playing this game for a while, now. 40-50 games on survival beginning to end. i loved it before the littlebigmassacre update. it is still buggy(as of yesterday). but occasionally i've noticed bugs that were fixed, so hang in there. it's a slow process.

Well, that's the price you pay. I chose to beat my head against the wall (although this game is fairly straight forward except a couple things) and enjoyed the game very much. I dom't find it joyful looking up the answers. That is not a challenge to me. It will take a lot to get me to find an answer for some thing in the game.

I even built a scanner room and could never figure out how to use it until the end, and by accidental spoiler. But I was too close the two times I tried to unsuccessfully add a hatch. I assumed the scanner was available through the HUD whenever I discovered it. As you may already know, the HUD can only be crafted in the scanner room, and so it scanner types to scan for.

I'm not sure what you mean by backlog? You can play this game at your leisure. I play 20 minutes one session, 2 hours another.

I have almost 200 games in my library that I haven't played between PC, Xbox, and my Switch.

200 unplayed games? Do you collect them or play them? lol

My dudes, once in your life you should finish the game on Hardcore. It really is a fantastic experience. Always you need to be weighing risks against benefits. There is no room for error. The best and most intriguing gaming experience I had, and it took 3 runs to complete on Hardcore, died 2 times in the very endgame, so frustrating but now I have completed it :) Also have completed the game many times on survival but that's not fun any more, too easy.
