With that said, if you're not even seeing the Prawn there, you may be having an issue with your game files. It should be there in the same spots of every playthrough.
Everything looks, like it was already looted by someone else.
I wonder if that is the state I left during my previous playthrough and the things I found today are the leftovers I missed back then. So Subnautica "forgot" to reset the game world when I started my new game?
So it is official, something went wrong while my new game was created. :_(
I hope I can still find the needed prawn suit schematics.
Sorry to tell you, but unless the game is already crediting you with some percentage of the PRAWN blueprint after visiting Aurora, there are not enough torso fragments in the rest of the wrecks to make up a full blueprint.
I am quite sure of this. I have had past extensive discussions about it with other SN gurus, and with Ignis. AND I have been to all the wrecks to check it out.
And claw arm fragments never stacked properly with the torsos to make up a complete blueprint. In SN 2.0, the claw arm fragments have been disabled entirely. They are just decoration now.
It sounds as if you started a new game, then saved at the end of some early session. Then when you came back to the game, somehow launched into an ancient save game.
When you stopped playing a few years back, did you Uninstall the game? And then did you make sure that the game folder was completely removed. As I understand it, save slots are NOT removed when you Uninstall. So if you reinstalled to play again, there might have been a slot folder with ? the same number ? that the newly installed game tried to create? Something like that.
It sounds like you accidentally opened a saved game. Welded doors can only be cut open, so if they are open then it must be a previous saved game.
I started the new game on Geforce Now but switched to my own computer later (saves in the Steam cloud). I thought that was no big deal, the same game version on both (71288 from last March).
I started a new game in creative mode (like suggested) and played to the moment of the Aurora explosion (cost me 90 minutes). This time everything is like it should be, Prawn Suits, tons of batteries, posters, PDAs and carry-alls.
I will take a break from Subnautica and play a bit Below Zero before I start a new Subnautica playthrough, This time without Geforce Now. ^^
Try trashing your cells cache folder in that save and let the game build a new fully stocked aurora.
