when will subnautica 3 appear ?

Subnautica is such a good game that I'm longing for subnautica 3 already now. When will it appear ?

Hi. The developers have confirmed a new game is being worked on, we do not have much information yet though. It has been confirmed it will have water and will be made on Unreal Engine 5. No release date or further information has been given.

They only started hiring some missing key team members less than a year ago. Figure a minimum of 2 years (from NOW) to a trailer, at least 2.5 years to Early Access.

If anything sooner, be happy.

Too right. While it has it's place I always thought it was a little bit janky.

Yeah, Unreal Engine adds for some interesting possibilities. By the time this game is out, we'll have already seen another generation of video cards. Maybe some efficient ray tracing will be possible by then. Lots of impressive things that could be done with light in an aquatic environment.

The ENgine switch should allow for much different approch with Ray tracing and milti CPU / GPU support
main reason will maybe be the PS5 and its hardware thats good with Unreal 5

I grew up with Atari and 8-bit NES. I can be more than happy playing a game with bad graphics as long as the game is good. I like beautifully rendered art as well as anyone else, but the quality of the content should be a much higher priority, IMO. We don't need another BZ. We need a proper successor to SN.

I'm not excited for a third game until I see the direction it's gonna take. I hear bad things about the second one when compared to this, much of the first one's "magic" has been lost. Silly jokes, incessant talking from the protagonist, horribly designed environments compared to the first game, never really feeling like you're in any real danger, vehicles are badly designed etc.

If there is to be a third game I really hope that it's a work of passion like the first one and not another attempt for a quick cash grab like the second one.

I just hope they go back to faceless, voiceless protagonist again. The big misstep I feel below zero made, was to make the whole thing about the character. The originalngame was brilliant because the character didn't matter - it was all about the exploration and discovery.
