Engine - near the underwater mountains, and the back of the Aurora.
The engine fragments are common in the Underwater Islands biome, especially near the large wreck there. This is pretty much directly north of lifepod 3.
(There ARE Reapers to the east of the sand dunes on that boundary, but you can search from further away, and sneak in to grab from the western slope.)
Hull/Bridge - also the other (NW) Mushroom Forest.
For example: In any given playthrough, there can be 0 to 3 engine fragments in cargo Bay 3 of the Aurora.
i stroll on up to the ridge from the nearby kelp forest. I then skim down the across the top of the ridge away from the aurora looking for roughly person sized cylinder fragments, these are engine pieces. These pieces should be able to be found along the downward slope on the crash zone side of the ridge, so you shouldn't have to go all the way to the bottom of the left side of the crash zone trench(so prob no reaper agro). i tend to find them between half way down and 2/3rds down the slope. another thing to note at the roughly the top of the ridge you will be in the grassy plateau/crash zone biome rather than the crash zone trench sub-biome, so the fog should be a lot less and you'll have better visibility for seeing the reaper before you make you rush to any fragments you see. the fragments are typically cylinders that's larger at the center.
if the reaper DOES agro you, you'll be fine if you're at full health, just don't run away all the way into the kelp forest while it's charging as it might stick around there attacking stalkers/fish, just let it take a little nibble if you agro it before hoping back over to the safe side of the ridge.
Really? Cool, and good for you.
However, almost certainly a coincidence. I don't think that in the case of Cyclops fragments, the random distribution C-fragments within a biome is linked to lifepods at all.
There are a couple large wreck chunks that are linked to a greater incidence of each type of C-frag (Notably, the Underwater Islands wreck, for engine parts), but not lifepods.
One game day after completing my Cyclops engine blueprint with 1 scan from inside, another from the Crag Zone, and the third one from the Underwater Islands.
Fate.
Now I always survey down the outside of that sand dune boundary shortly after I get a Seamoth.
