dd device dormant since update?
just a little thing - but the Doomsday Device on display in the Enforcement Platform used to move around (and open up) when i got close to it - now it just does nothing - kind of a weird bug/change - or was it intentional coz the thing is supposed to be broken?

nope - but it used to open up and move around - like an electronic version of the face hugger from Alien lol - now it just sits there closed, just barely moving

maybe i shall check back on it later in the game - not sure i did so during the endgame last time - since you do have to come back here one more time

and i always wondered if you can ever get at the thing in the other case - i shall check back on that too - but actually now i think about it, i think i did check on that one once i activated the other things i won't mention coz they are also spoilers lol - which means i also checked on the dd device - and it was the same as it had been before

not a big deal - since i'm sure they are just scenery - was just weird that previously it had more animation to it

I'd love for it to be active in Hard Mode. as a time-limiter on your main quest i

But meanwhile, all those cases are just begging to be opened in Subnautica 3.

lol - i have enough of a problem with the Sunbeam timer - because my OCD just will not let me ignore it - i have to be there to watch - every time - and the same with radio messages - i am super paranoid that if i wait too long the next message will overwrite the previous and i will lose it lol

i will definitely have to play a game where i don't go to the Sunbeam, and where i let the messages pile up and see what happens

also - i am going to try a game where i just never repair the radio - or wait till way late in the game

so yes - nice idea for the game timer - but i manage to stress myself out enough with things that aren't actually as urgent as the imminent destruction of all matter in the universe lol :-)

Yeah I do like the cruisey nature of the game where you can take your time sightseeing.

But I seem to remember finding some evidence of an earlier game timer
Some in-game warning about finding a cure for Khaara in time to cure your fatal infection. Must have been a PDA message. Not significant in the current build though.

yeah - i remember wondering if that was actually going to be significant

but considering how annoying the Sunbeam timer is, especially now that we can pin blueprints, i'm glad we didn't get one of those stuck in the top right corner for the rest of the game lol

but definitely feels like there was some potential to have a few more hardcore options in the game

personally i don't use the actual hardcore mode, since it's too dangerous to have a run ruined by a bug - so i just play on Survival and restart if i die, unless it was due to a bug - and i try to pretend i can't hear the o2 warnings lol :-)

is nice that BZ has options to turn those off

i also played a few games with hunger and thirst turned off for the original - the ultimate sightseeing playthrough lol - just sitting on a brain coral meditating :-)

Not going to the Sunbeam landing site before timer expires (being far away from the island) plays a slightly different scene and PDA message.

It's kind of amusing.
That thing firing off in the distance is even more terrifying than up close.

ooh nice - i think i have heard it play - but i was underwater so didn't see how it looked from the surface - another thing to try next run

also i just read about the booster tank exploit - so i'm looking forward to that - since i didn't use it at all previously, since i didn't want to sacrifice oxygen - coz i was too dumb to realise i could carry a spare tank lol :-)
