Unplayable on Meta Quest 2
Can someone shed some light and help me get it to work?

I was hoping to replay Subnautica using VR, but I just realized that many things actually don't work as they should. I'm aware that the game doesn't support motion controllers (sucks, but it is what it is), but it doesn't even support a regular one, or the mouse input once launched in the VR mode.

Navigating the menus and the inventory is impossible as the cursor becomes invisible.
HUD elements are offset to the left side and outside of my headset's FOV.
The camera's Y axis is locked and can only be moved with the headsets.

It's such a shame and a deal breaker for me, considering how beautiful and different the game looks in VR...

At least tthe menu navigation issues can be resolved with a regular gamepad in VR mode.

The issues with the field of view and poor placement of hud elements and tools cannot be resolved without mods. At least you can get the PDA out of your face once you have a chair or vehicle to sit.

There's a VR enhancements mod that should fix of all these things and hopefully gets updated for the "living large" version. I have not used any mods so far, but that looks like a much needed collection of QoL fixes.

It's a VR support type game, you play with an Xbox pad.
There are no VR hands, but I still highly recommend the game as one of the two VR games on the pad.

By the way, add yourself to the topic of the petition to restore the descriptions of VR games.
Because as you can see you need it.

Well, I don't have one.

You can use a replacement for $4.
You can use steam bindings, and assign buttons from quest controllers.
You can play other games.

I also don't want to use a controller; with so few buttons, it's like playing with one hand tied behind my back.

You can use steam bindings, and assign buttons from quest controllers.

Which don't tell you what each control does; it just tells you, "This button will behave like that one," as if you know which controls do what to begin with.

You can play other games.

You know, you had a choice to not be snotty about it. :negative1:

I really don't understand why you treated my attempt to help in such a rude way.
I didn't come here to argue with you. Go your own way in peace.

edit:
Note that the game does not have an icon "support for VR controllers. on the description page.
The game had its beginnings before vr controllers were invented.

Uh-huh.
Don't play dumb with me; "You can play other games," is dismissive and condescending and you know it.

I didn't come here to argue with you. Go your own way in peace.

My point to you.
You had every opportunity to stop what you were saying before you decided to be obnoxious about the whole thing... you chose not to.
If you truly didn't want to argue, you shouldn't have been passive-aggressively snide.

You created this argument.
