Naming Bases
I have to imagine I'm not the only person who names their bases with the beacons, to make it easier to tell them apart. I've not named my first base, in Safe Shallows, but I have the rest, and I wondered what everyone else called their's.

Mine are:

Mushroom Depths (bottom of the mushroom forest).

Mushroom Heights (top of the 'special location' giant giant mushroom tree).

Strider Point (On the edge of a cave system that goes down to a massive cavern where striders (seatreaders?) walk around. I want to find the egg of one so I can put it in my alien containment).

Vent Peak (Right next to the wreck to the east of the mountain, north west from the front end of the Aurora, and really close to one of the thermal spouts).

Most of my out in the wild beacons are boring as hell. My only named ones are for when I start building stuff that isn't Thermals.

"Newbie Tower" isn't fancy, but it was honest. Hopefully my second home work in progress "Better Base" lives up to the hype.

In the one game I had with numerous bases, I tried to name the bases based on the biome they were located in, so my base in the Deep Grand Reef was the Deep Reef Base, the base in the Koosh Zone was the Koosh Zone base, etc.. It was useful both to locate the bases, and to locate the biomes they were located in, but it did result in a lot of beacon indicators on my HUD. Lately I've only ever bothered to build one base, and I usually just label it "Home Base" on the beacon, since that's the purpose it serves.

Sometimes I choose any island names on Earth for naming my base. (preferably tropical islands). You know, the player also miss his/her home too.

My main base is simply 'Prime Base.'

The rest a short description of the bases biome location - Mountain Island base, Floating Island base, Jellyshroom base, etc. Hardly original reading the comments, but it's direct.

Eh. Nothing creative here. Just Home Base, Second Base and Third Base.

Mine usually involve the name of the zone they're in. "Farm Island" "Shallows Base" "Mountain Top" "Koosh Flats" "ILZ base" (Inactive Lava Zone, which is too long to fit in the name slot) etc.

Although building in the inactive lava zone is a real pain.

I'll admit to being a little disappointed with everyone's lack of imagination.

I name my bases... I also have had them really spread out. But with the addition of the recharger, all of a sudden, the Cyclops is worth it to ferry from base to base, especially with the depth mods. You can get REALLY deep. I intend to start anew and gather up as much as I can in a short time span. I will have my shallows base, above the volcano. Which I shall call Shallow HQ. Then I'll have one at the Mushroom Forest, and call it Shroom City (it will be expansive, with a port for the cyclops and everything). Then I'll have one waaaaaaaaay over in the Kush Forest... Probably call it Kush Dome (make it round-ish). Then I'll have to go ALL the way back over and make one in the zone way behind the starting shallows that is extremely deep, and apparently at the deepest parts of the map, it is a volcanic cavern... and in those depths before the cavern, you run into Crabsquid like crazy... they're evil... probably call that the FoB, and the volcanic cavern will be the "Melted HQ". TOO MUCH TO DO! So many ideas...

Simple and easy.

I had started with names like Outpost I until I started naming my Seamoths and Cyclops.

The Cyclops became Red Dwarf, the Seamoths are Starbug I and II. My outposts became Rimmer World, near the Shallows and Lister's Quarters near the Treader path.

You could go with sci fi and horrormovies , well known games, history etc.

cyclops = seaquest , nautilus , leviathan , zeppelin
seamoth = deep star six
bases =
abyss , mariana trench , rapture ^^

A classic is to use alpha ,beta,etc or roman/greek/nordic godnames for bases or submarines

like calling the seamoth with perimeter defense Zeus or Thor.

The possibilities are endless unlike the resources^^

Nope.

* "Garden Base" - My masterpiece. Built in the middle of a Kelp Forest, it extends down below into a series of underground caves. Covered with strategically placed grow beds and whathaveyou.

* "Rubber Farm" - Does what it says it does. ...and then I figured out I could grow the kelp.

* "Hammerhead Base" - This is probably one of my more 'creative' ones. Basically the layout of the base is a hammerhead.

* I've got one on top of the Giant Mushroom Tree I'm still working on a name for. Mebbe 'psyloscifi'? 'Smurf Village'?

And I got a buddy who has "Desalination Plant". Pretty much exactly what it says it is, a room with a load of water filtration machines.

Incidentally this is why I suggested elsewhere that a color system be added for the beacons- I'd like to have a color for Base markers, among other things.

Wow, how do you use the beacon to name the base? I only can write a name in the wall lockers, but the beacons just say B1, B2...

BTW, my base is called... ahem... Ace of Base. Yes, pun totally intended.
