best thing i can think of is remove the parts that are blocking its path and let it swim by. then place the peices back.

Ok I tried that but now he just swims into new parts so I took that off too and he swam into a new part... This is not the first time this has happend either :(

It's like a weird bug that makes them attracted to my base

But dead reefback makes about 4~8 body parts which can still be problem to you

Do they dissappear or stay there forever lol?

You could spawn in an Exosuit. I've seen YouTubers killing Reefbacks with the drill arms. I think the body is still a problem, though.

You might try Gas Torpedoes. When I used them on a Reaper he did totally leave the area for a while (30 - 60 seconds). Even if it comes back afterward, which most things seem to do as they say creatures are "leashing" even when they should be "fleeing", you could use torpedoes to make it flee, then kill it with the Exosuit while it's not right over your base.

Man, who releases anything bigger than a Peeper right outside your base? That's just asking for trouble.

A pair of rabbit rays keeps trying to get inside my seabase... maybe I accidentally put it on their egg

Did you release hand raised Rabbitrays outside of your base? The leashing issue that is broken and is not working may be causing much of this. When you use a defensive move against a creature (slash it with the knife, hit i with Seamtoh EMP...) is supposed to break the leashing and have the creature swim away to a new area and not immediately come back. This is broken. One of the Devs commented on this in another post, and they are working to fix it.

I suspect the creature leashing is broken in other ways too. Rabiit rays, Sandsharks, Bonesharks, and other creatures I hand raised and was foolish enough to release in close proxinity to the base where I raised them all seem to want to get back in. The Rabbitrays, Spadefish, and Jellyrays are not such a big deal, though having them bumping against my hatches was a tad annoying. The Gasopods, Stalkers, Sandsharks and Bonesharks were a bit more of an issue.

And yes, I spawned in a Reefback egg in one experiment, and accidentally released it close to my base, when I meant to release a Stalker (into my nearby Stalker farm), and it grew to mature size and did the same thing. It swam at my base, clipped through the wall of one of the rooms with the Alien Containment in it and stayed stuck there.I also deconstructedthe room it was stuck in and the ones above i, but it does not swim away.

When you release creatures, ot creates a new leashing are for them (you created a new territory area for it to swim in). So it swims in that area now and is leashed to it. And since the defnesinve leash brealing mechanic is not working as intended, the e leash does not get broken.

So either try to kill it, and have the corpse floating around or scratc the game, start a new one. And don't release anywhere near your bases, ever again.

It's an incomplete EA game. And why I have not done any long time playthroughs or gotten attached to anything i have built. I just muck around, build crazy things, test strategies, explore areas to see what they have in them (all the little nooks and crannies), test ideas and strategies others have posted to see if I can maake them work for me, and start new games after about 15 hours average, and do it again in a new area and a new way. When the game goes gold, I'll have some strategies set and learned and will then do a single game long time fullp playthrough. And not until then. But that's just me and my way of playing any EA game on any of the accounts I use.

I didn't raise them, the moment I placed my first multipurpose room they tried to get underneath it or inside it

Did you use F8 to report this? I did have one game werhe a wild reefback went totally winky, and tried to swim into the terrain, and got stuck there, no base or anything involved. Just a crazy Reefback trying to "become one with the rock wall". It just kept clipping into the terrain a little more each time I looked. No update with terrain changes either that could have possibly put new terrain into it's leash area. It just sat there and kept filipping out, until suddenly it popped out and launched straight up, into the sky, never to be seen again. It was truly bizzare to watch. I used F8 to report it after it all happened, and did not save that game, just exited to desktop.

I play mostly in Stable, and it hasn;t happened again since. Are you in Experimental, where they may be trying to fix the leashing mechanics and tweak creature AI? Make sure you F8 report it so the Devs can see possible reproduction steps to figure out what is going on.

And deconstruct you base and reconstruct it somewhere further away from your demonic Reefer buddies, lol!

I killed a gasopod today and his body despawned fairly quickly (was right next to my base) so the body shouldnt be a problem if you can kill it.

OP: kill the reefback just as everyone is suggesting. it absolutely can be killed. they just have a ton of HP, so you'll want to use a high damage dealing strategy.
As far as the body parts go, grab a propulsion cannon and use it to move the body parts somewhere else that is out of the way & not a nuisance.

Will be a bit grindy of a task, but probably worth it if you to don't want to see the hours you lovingly poured into your base go to waste.

Try attaching a couple of floaters to your reefback. It will force the critter to the surface or at least in a different orientation.
