Example 1 : you go outside with only a seaglide. You collect some ores, vines and misc stuff. For some reason, you die : you will be teleported to your last safe point (lifepod or base) with the previous secured inventory, in this case, with only your seaglide.
Example 2 : you go outside with only the seaglide. You collect two copper ores. You go back to base for some reason : your inventory is secured. Then, you go again outside, collect silver and then you die. You will lose only those silver pieces since the copper has been secured before.
So every time you have lots of collected stuff in your inventory, don't forget to go in your base to "save" them. Or you can make some containers, place them in strategic spots and drop collected stuff in them.
Ohh ok, yeah that makes more sense. I'm used to just dropping everything and having it fall to the ground but then again I'm also not used to actually having a safe place in survival games. (don't starve doesn't really consider feeling safe a necessity ;v)
Good to know in the future, seems like it can be easily exploited though.
So, if you lose ore when you die and can't pick it up again, does ore just regenerate overtime?
- Every material, stuff, ressources you collect is limited and does not respawn. There's plenty in the ocean so it's hard to run out of them but by collecting all quartz around my safe shallow spawn point, I can assure you they do not respawn. So if you run out of ressources in a biome, you'll need to seek for them in another one.
- You may experience ressource respawn : some people have experienced it. It can happens when the game is updated or when loading. The game is still in early access after all so you can expect some kind of bugs. But from what I read from devs or forums, only creatures respawn from eggs.
- You can find however "respawnable" ressources (like copper ores) in specific cases : some creatures grant you ones. Tell me if you want to be spoiled about which ones I found.
- If ultimately you have depleted everything and you're too afraid of depths or going too far, you can use console commands.
Ok thanks, I might hold off on spoilers for now. I wish the stuff in your inventory didn't just automatically vanish from the world when you die though, that's 5 gold I'll probably never see again. :l If anything I wish it just respawned at its original coordinates and made me have to go get it again.
EDIT: And Cyclops/Base aren't commenting about captains or anything. Huh. Maybe game's just being particularly EA this load.
A good example of this in another game is Minecraft.
Huh, it used to just get voided so that's actually really good to know. Appreciate that, even if it was a 2-year old necro.
yeah it might have been necroed, but still helped someone, besides, whats the problem with necros? its still relevant nowadays, would you rather have a 'new' thread asking the exact same thing?
besides,if steam wanted so much for people to never necro it would auto-delete threads when they became 1-2 years old,or at least lock them
if you have nothing to add to this, please dont comment!
Yeah, some kids just feel like they are a part of something bigger when they use ' kewl buzzwords' like necro
Nice 0.5 year old necro. Also like a cookie?
Congratulations, your witty comment wins you the internets
