Stalkers being Stalkers
Everytime I go into the Kelp Forest a stalker follows me back home. I don't feed them or toss out wreckage. Now I have stalkers everytime I go out of my pod and Im only on day 2 or 3... I kite them and hit them with my knife since they always try to bite when I leave, but it never kills them. They follow me all around the safe shallows making the area well... not safe anymore.. How can I make them stop?

try baiting them with metal salvage, or just tossing out metal salvage around your base. They'd rather play with it than eat you. Or I guess you could ram then with a submarine...

If you have your knife equipped in your hand, Stalkers will follow you and chase you well outside of their normal aggro and swim ranges. It's best to keep your knife quick slotted but not in hand when you go into the kelp forests. Only hand equip the knife when you need to cut creepvine, then unequip it and get the heck out.

If you are now being camped, make sure you don;t have the knife out when you exit the Pod, and head away, grab some Scrap or Peepers and try to lure the Stalkers back to the kelp forest. The creature aggro AI is currnetly broken in Stable, so knfing them does not break their leash and make them fell to another area. So they aren't reacted as intended. Should (hopefully) be fixed when the update drops beginning of this coming week (Obraxis says Monday or Tuesday if all the bugs are ironed out...)

With the broken AI, you may be just screwed, and a restart may be best. Just remember not to swim around Stalker territories with a knife out in the new game. Only equip it when it is needed, and unequip it asap when you are done using it, in Stalker territories anyways.

Thanks guys! I definitely had my knife out which I guess is why they followed me. I shall take your advice I Fart In Your General Direction.

ive just been plowing into them full steam ahead with the seamoth, seems to work well enough at chasing away stragglers.

If they continue to "stalk" you, then try to start a new game. It's not the first time someone is bringing up this issue. Lifepod can respawn in various places (not sure how many) and at least one of them is too close to those Stalkers.

I love my pet Stalkers!

You shouldn't have lead them to your pod. Simply by strafing sideways upwards you can avoid stalkers bites and they will lose interest in you. Stalker don't like to follow you up to the water surface so as long as you swim to your desired location near the water surface they wont follow you. From what I know stalker can take 3 or 2 hits from a knife. Your options to lead them away are making a trail of metal salvage or aggroing them and swiming to the kelp forest. In the situation I'd anyway highly recommend starting a new world.

Crap. Oh yeah, the titanium in the knife... Stalkers like the titanium. Sheesh. Dumb fish. I wondered why stalkers were finding me so attractive and chasing me, lately. Ugh. Stupid fish. I've tried fighting them but I've never managed to inflict enough damage on one to kill it with the knife. I wonder if they are attracted to storage lockers, as well. Hmm.

You can pacify them by feeding them fish and at least limiting the attacks near your base. You can also exploit them by feeding them metal and getting a convenient supply of teeth right by your own base.

Kill them. Easy.
