Where are the darn moonpool fragments?
Seriously though, where are they? I searched the koosh, the red grass plains, the dunes (until a message told me that there were leviathans around) the kelp forest, inside wrecks, and no moonpool. I actually searched so much that I accidentally discovered nuclear reactor fragments! Can someone please help me and tell me where to find them?

I think the grand reef.

I agree ... They are VERY hard to find. I found them in a wreck 300m or so deep but I can't remember exactly where. I think it was the wreck in the southern eadge of the Grand Reef. Sorry. Not much help. I had to use a Cyclops to get there which seems bacwards.

It's actually kind of cool they did this, now I need to re-explore the entire game haha.
I was like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get into the Aurora after the update also :p

MP fragments are found in the modular wreck 11 in the Grand Reef at F3 camera world position-900 -405 -1431.

I found a wreck in the grand reef near the southern Grassy Plateau. If you head south from the Shallows and keep as low as you can you should run right into it. It's deeper than your seamoth can go but only a little. I had no trouble swimming out to explore.

That is, if the RNGods shine upon you.

Am I the only one that thinks that hiding essential rooms (just the multipurpose and moonpool really) is bad design?

I started a new game this update and progress was smooth until I got to needing the moonpool.
(although I would've hit a hitch prior to this if I didn't know the MP was on the island)
I had the Seamoth and Cyclops and PRAWN but no moonpool.
So I was at the point where I needed to go further and deeper but in order me to get the tech needed to go further and deeper I needed to go further and deeper to get it. A catch 22.

Seamoth couldn't go deep enough to reach the wreck with the moonpool fragments.
Cyclops is too big and unwieldy, its lights are weak, and the cameras are pretty awkward to use (and it would really be better if their spotlight stayed on when leaving the seat - I'd managed to find a few things on the seafloor but it was hard to find them again after jumping out)
Probably could've done it in the PRAWN but without the grapple or jump boost it would've been very risky to find the wreck in the grand reef's steep cliffy terrain.

Moonpool is one of the most difficult blueprints to acquire, since all of the fragments that I know of are too deep to reach with the base Seamoth - which you can't upgrade without the moonpool. Chicken and the egg scenario, unless you want to get the cyclops first.

I didn't, so I used the wikia to find the shallowest wreck that contains moonpool fragments. That would be the one at -284 -250 -850 in the grand reef, SSW from the lifepod. It's shallow enough that you can get most of the way with the Seamoth, then use the Seaglide from there. With a couple O2 tanks and a rebreather, you'll have enough time to explore.

I like the fragment collecting mechanic in principle, but it needs some work. The ocean's just too big to stumble across what you need. It's a good way to incentivize exploration, but with fragments as rare as they are, there needs to be some way of locating them more easily or it ends up being more frustrating than fun. Some kind of long-range hot/cold detector would go a long way.

Yeah, wreck in the grand reef is your best bet, but it's a good 75+ meters below the Seamoth's base crush depth (which is why you need a damned moonpool to begin with). It took me several dives with 3 tanks and a 60 sec turn around time.

This may sound a bit nooby but where is the grand reef? Is it just a deeper version of the safe shallows? Im not sure if I have been there or if I just didn't realize I was there

I found them in mountains biome wreck at 350 m deep, good luck ^^

Grand Reef is one of the game's many biomes. It's hard to tell you where to go to find it, since there aren't many tools for finding your way (which is the main problem with the new fragment mechanic, IMO). If I try to describe the way, I fear I'll just have you searching for hours.

There's a world map you can look up under the steam community guides that shows you where the biomes are with respect to the starting point (the Aurora makes a good reference point), along with icons showing the major wrecks. The wreck that is in the far northeast corner of the Grand Reef is the one you want.

Thanks! I'll definitely check there and the other places people mentioned. Hopefully I won't get eaten by something. Oh and is there a way to type in commands on a Mac computer? I saw that people use f3 on windows computers but on a Mac f3 just shows you all the open windows.

Don't forget there's a pressure compensator upgrade module available inside the Aurora. Adds another 100 m to your seamoth depth to help reach some of those wrecks

Really? I tried twice to get inside the aurora but I couldn't find an entrance
