PRAWN Suit experiences
Now I've played with it quite some time, and I have some pros and cons, and I want to know if you agree.

Pros:

-Greater depths
-Kicks ♥♥♥ in combat, if you use your claw arms - extremely effective against sharks and Crabsquids, even against Ampeels. If there'd be a Multiplayer mode, I would even try to kill a Reaper with some friends
-A huge amount of ore with you drill arm - especially silver
-The grappling arm is fun
-Takes nearly no damage, especially with the Hull Reinforcement
-Thermal generator is great
-You need to visit only one room for the blueprint

Cons:

-Sluggish and slow, you can't really explore something with it
-Because of this, you really need the Cyclops to use it
-The drill arm is extremely important for mining (the main reason why you have it), but it's not included and exploring the wrecks is a pain
-You can't "swim" with it at all, that turns canyons and holes into your enemy, and biomes like Underwater Islands, Blood Kelp Zone or Jelly Shroom cave (entering, leaving) are very difficult
-Picking ore with it is a real pain, it is too slow and imprecisely - I always leave it to collect the stuff I drilled
-I'm happy that it has it's own storage, but clearing it is annoying. Why is it unable to transfer it directly to my inventory till it's full?

I really enjoy the Prawn. Walking on the sea floor really gives you a new perspective on things and it makes you feel like a badass!

I agree with pretty much every one of your points, but I don't really think a cyclops is required to combo with the exosuit. I can still get around fine, it just takes awhile.

It's certainly not quick, but you can gain speed with a combo of grappling the right things combined with proper jump jet usage. The jump jet upgrade helps a little bit as well.

Yes, of course. But I think they could improve at least my last two points, that would make it more useful without overpowering it.

I just got the prawn suit and don't have any upgrades for mobility, but I find the prawn suit to be slow and cumbersome. I took it exploring--figured I'd just head north for as far as I could go and see what I could find. Ended up 900+ meters deep in some caves and canyons and I am so sick of trying to jump/climb back out that I am tempted to just leave the dammed thing swim back to my base at this point. It needs a floatation device to get back to surface if desired. This sucks.

jforsaken1, you just need to hunt around for a couple of the attachments. With the grapple arm you can pull yourself up quite a ways, and cling to the rock face, then thrust up some more, then grapple up, repeat as needed. If you need help finding the specific fragments you can search the discussions for lots of ideas where to find the various fragments.

IMO the exosuit really comes into its own once it is equipped with the drilling arm, and after you have the cyclops so you can cart it around to the area you want to explore.

Cool, thanks for the reply. I guess it will be good in combination with the cyclops. I don't have all the cyclops fragments yet. Now an upgrade to make the prawnsuit be able to sprint would be nice. Thanks again.

It would still be nice to have a mode button for ballasts to sink or float it.

@TheTool, I totally agree because getting back to the surface the way it is now is just not very fun; in fact its a pain in the ass.

That's why I don't use it. Haven't attempted combat with it yet, but for exploration = headache.

I found they've fixed most of the annoying parts of drill mining, so the biggest remaining frustrations are the claw arm animation delay making it take 5 to 8 tries to pick up a single item, especially near the suit's feet and if any kind of slope is involved, which it almost always is... and the tendancy for FPS to drop much lower for much longer in the thing than in the Seamoth or Cyclops. Maybe it's just the greater turning speed, but I'm CONSTANTLY trying to turn as I walk and ending up spinning 180 degrees when I'm trying to make tiny course corrections. The performance issues can make it impossible to navigate with the thing, unlike the submarines where it's just annoying but doesn't ultimately stop you.

I also find that fauna of almost every kind cannot resist swimming into the drill as you mine. It's so common it's actually annoying because you literally can't stop the screen filling up with yellow blood all the time. After you kill everything or even move or try to shoo them away, they just swim right back into the drill...

I have yet to hear anyone claim to have successfully killed a Reaper with one. I have heard a lot of people kiting them back to the Shallows after trying and then realizing they can't kill it, but can't get away from it in the sluggish PRAWN, either...

I haven't noticed any frame rate drops while in the prawnsuit thankfully. I get some drops down into the 20's here and there in the game. I get serious frame drops while in certain rooms of my base though I noticed.
