Oxygen and health are the only resources you need to manage to stay alive. Energy is consumed by all electric Tools such as the Flashlight, vehicles such as the Seamoth, and appliances such as the Fabricator use energy stored by Lifepod 5 and Seabases.
Don;t let any of the "Hardcore or you're an eternal noob" asshats get to you. It's a great game, that you can play however you want. My husband likes to beat himself up in Hardcore or Suvival Modes only. He likes to kill everything- suicidal Genocider, I prefer not to kill if I don't have to (with the exception of Cave Crawlers, Biters, Bleeders and Blighters...)- Neutral, my daughter is pure Pacifist, my son... well he's an 18 y/o male so... full on Genocide. I play all but Hardcore, but prefer Freedom. My daughter likes Creative Mode only, my son likes Freedom Mode (for now... they just started playing on the XBone copy I got for them...). Get the game and enjoy it your own way. :)
The worst part is that the fish will still run themselves extinct even if you don't eat them. Like when I set up my base far from the lifepod after I gullibly belived people saying it was my fault the area around the lifepod depopulated.
Nope, fish and even stalkers will basically vanish from existence in short order wherever you build a regularly used base. Even if you don't harm a single one.
The Devs know and have posted several times, about the spaqwn/respwn mechanics not working as intended right now. Are you just fond of posting your own personal gripes, and potentially discouraging new people, who are looking into buying the game mate? The Devs are aware of the issue, and have said they are working to fix it. For now, you can breed/farm fishies and predators and repopulate the ocean. have never had a totally bare area, completely unpopulated, because I farm and release the majority of what I am farming, once I have food supplies of fauna and flora set up.
Don;t go off topic. The OP was asking about available modes. Not your personal gripes with an Early Access game, still being developed and fixed. If they want to see your constant griping and harping repetitively, they can check your post history.
I wanted to get the game months ago but I hated having to lose gamesaves if I wanted to see what was in the new updates. I guess I could always wait for a full release. But that could be a long way aways.
I have no way to confirm if it was coincidental timing or not that I went from easy time grabbing fish as soon as I jumped out of my lifepod, to mostly vacant once I started experimenting with building foundations and quick corridors full of storage lockers near my lifepod.
Though I would not be surprised if the permanancy of base structures was adding to the oddball quirks that can turn up in fish spawning around them. Otherwise there would still be tons of stalkers in the kepll forest about 100m away, rather than even predators tending to be a no show for me there for the most part (probably running face first into the few cave entries with droopvines or something)
I also take my sweet time doing anything, so many would have had a fullly upgraded base and been moving out to build a new base in the time it takes me to finally settle on my first batch of rooms.
So my "One real base" in my main save probably gives less leeway for out of sight respawn logic with how often I'm back to it, even when I spend an in game week's worth of nights out exploring.
I could easily see why my gameplay style would ramp up such quirks, if it relied on doing things while the player was nowhere near them. While I never go to the lifepod anymore, i do often drive my cyclops past where it's visible.
I am less familiar with the Xbone version of things. I know it's been behind in versions compared to the PC version before, but I don't recall offhand if it's currently a matched version to the PC build.
TLDR: You may or may not have this happen to you, OP. The same goes with a lot of the common bugs I hear about other people having.
