Why cant i put eggs in the alien containment?

you can, you put a hatch on the containment, then go inside it then drop them from your inventory, same as dropping fish into the tank

Sometimes when you go into the Alien containment it activates the planter. Just close your PDA, swim up a little, open your PDA and right click the eggs again to drop them. I have had thois happen a number of times, not sure if it's a bug or not. But closing my PDA and swimming up and retrying has always worked to let me drop the eggs.
