luckily i was able to get out of the way just in time (amazingly i didnt even take any damage from the ambush attack!!), but my seamoth was not so lucky (i was outside of it, gathering titanium hull fragments). it picked up my moth and chewed on it for a bit before spitting it out, and coming around for another pass at me.
i also noticed shortly thereafter that the electro-defense upgrade for the moth does basically nothing to the reaper anymore!?!!? used to be you gave it a goood zap and the reaper would swim away and leave you alone for a while, now, yes it lets you go if it has you in grip, and it does swim away, but the effect only lasts a few seconds, and soon enough it comes right back for more. i learned this the hard way, after zapping it away from me, i got out of the moth to effect repares, but the reaper came back before i was finished (maybe 10-15 seconds after the shock) and took my moth away from me and that's all she wrote! i had to reload, which made me very sad because i had not saved in something like 3 hours :( (to be fair, this serves me right for forgetting to save before going to harvest in reaper territory...) still though... what the heck? i thought the whole point of the shock defense was to ward off predators without killing them. now it barely even annoys them (even at full charge). the only purpose for the shock now, it to zap and run, whereas you used be able to use it to actually explore and forage in dangerous territory with (reletive) safety.
getting back to the sound thing, i am wondering if it has something to do with entering or exiting vehicles? i have noticed some weird sound level shifts when entering or exiting the prawn suit especially. like (and forgive me becaus just at the moment i dont remember which was it was, or even if this is completely accurate), upon entering the vehicle i suddely could hear all the ghost rays singing in the deep reef, but as soon as i leave the vehicle they go silent? maybe this has something to do with this new annoying (and potentially deadly/devastating) glitch?
I'm wondering the same thing now too. I've had some very strange issues with sound as well, but it didn't have to do with vehicles for me (that I can tell) when I first started the game without any vehicles I'd ocassionally hear sounds get sped up. Like a few times now I've heard "Warning 30 seconds of oxygen remaining" and then it repeats itself in a super high pitched fast voice "warning30secondsofoxygenremaining" and its realllly weird.
I at first thought maybe its some kind of new like ... i dunno hallucination kind of mechanic? But I've been hearing some really weird/off sounds.
It's really too bad the reaper noises aren't working for you guys either. I'm hoping it gets fixed soon, or maybe someone finds out why its doing that, because gosh dang I'm having trouble going into reaper territory now because of it
It's not just the mountain caves. They do it in the Crash Zone and Dunes really bad too.
cool thanks for the info
thanks for the rest of the replies too. Glad to know its not just on my end
