trytoget a sheild mod for the cyclops then take all you can from the cyclops and drive it into the void and ditch it
make a prawn and keep going deeper
1) Always look for ways to go deeper. If you can't get deeper, look in the places you can get to for anything that can help with that goal.
The one exception to going deeper, is stay out of the void. You can't miss it, it's the edge of the map where the land just stops.
2) Scan EVERYTHING (yes, all caps EVERYTHING)! Sooner or later you will scan the thing that gives you options or hints on what to do next (the PDA has a codes and clues tab to help with this).
3) The radio is little more than the games training wheels, there to help get you out into the world and start you exploring. It doesn't last forever and when it has stopped you're on your own.
4) Ignore the cat. He (still) thinks he's funny telling everyone to ignore the cyclops.
At this point, you have completed what is basically "Act 2 - Is there a way home?" and are now well into "Act 3 - The great exploration". It's time to comb the map for your next objectives. It's gonna be a while before you get new story content unless you really go looking in the right places.
So...Check your datalogs.
The end of Space Gun Island's stuff should have given you a bunch of clues to follow in your database.
But, essentially, it boils down to:
There's an alien lab down at a certain depth in an area with a rich fossil record (you'll know it when you see it).
There's a power plant in an area rich in thermal energy even deeper.
There's a Main Containment Lab in an area that's extremely deep and also extremely hot.
Those are your long-term objectives. Do your best to explore the hell out of the map until you find them. Generally, though, go deeper, and expand your search wider (the Great Reef is a good place to chekc out too, although I actually set fin in there like...Once. XD)
Personally, I find that the various Escape Pods tend to put me in the general vicinity of important or notable content. So track them all down and explore their surroundings as best as you can.
There's also the parallel story of the Degasi Survivors. You should have gotten a signal from one of the escape pods or the radio that told you about the Rendez-vous point for the Aurora survivors and given you a rough idea for where to look (the log tells you it's "dry land").
There, check the whole place, and you'll start getting some really neat data logs that contain a whoel side story and will show you waypoints to new neat places to go and find, which will not only give you more base blueprints and other helpful stuff, but also subtly direct you towards the main story goals (although it'll send you there the hard way, IMO).
Finally, if you haven't completely explored the wreck of the aurora, you should totally do so. There's some REALLY good blueprints there, as well as the essential blueprint you'll need in order to actually end the game.
And keep track of how deep you can go, and have gone. If your cyclops can only delve to 500m, then look in wrecks above that for a depth module so you can go deeper. Otherwise, you just keep trying to go deeper and deeper.
And if all else fails, there's always the wiki, Steam guides, and youtube. I can also recommend picking up the map mod from the Nexus. The map really helps you know where you've been so you can explore more efficiently instead of wandering for hours thinking "have I already been here?"
But in practice its really easy to miss a PDA pointing to a progression location. The important bit you should have however if you went to the enforcement platform is data concerning the other Alien facilities in your Codes & Clues PDA folder.
In short you need to go deeper.
I actually found that one base near the entrance was enough for me. By the time I was ready to go WAAAAY deeper, I'd found an alternative closer entry point, marked it with a beacon and I just dove in with the Prawn while leaving my Cyclops parked nearby.
One base will work, but i prefer to build one small base right before the dropoff into what i think of as the lower lost river (right about 890 meter next to the waterfall down) and park my cyclops there while i use the prawn to find the Nickel ore i need to upgrade my depth modules. Once i've done that i build a second base next to the cove tree (which is usually my biggest base anywhere) , and spend the rest of the game with that as my main base, I take everything i need to build both of those bases and make them self sufficient on the first trip down, that way i don't have to mess around with heading back out until the game is pretty much over.
Is there actually enough Titanium down there for that? :o I find that's one of the main reasons I keep returning to the crash site.
Read your PDA entries, there are tons of clues in there.
Like everything I play now I have to Google every second step or even every step of the way, this is ridiculous.
Go to the blueprints tab of your PDA. From the very start of the game, it tells you how to make rubber. You can acquire it quite easily once you know what to look for.
In general, I've noticed that many players who find the early game tough don't take the time to read through the PDA. It provides a pretty good overview of some early stage goals and gives you just enough data on crafting to get started.
