Yes, that is a common place to build the deep base. It is midway down.

If you do build in the Tree Cove, make sure to have it (or at least the moonpool) close to the roof, that way you can still get a Seamoth down there.

Tree cove looks neat, but it isn't functional. Set up a mid-base between 700-800 meters, so you can get to it with a Seamoth.

Store a Prawnsuit there, to swap into for deeper dives. There are nice thermal vents in Lost River at 700-750m deep.

If cool is all you're after, yea the tree is cool. The shroom caves are cool. How about an island base above the water?

Kewl isnt what im after it was just a place i found that a good base imho would be, where in the 700 to 800 meter base would you suggest? Lower mountains? Northern blood kelp? and why

Personally, I like the entrance and start of Lost River near CTO Yu's location. It's a treasure trove of items. You can get anything other than diamonds (in quantity anyway, Sea Treaders path for diamonds).

If you are OK with the "Cyclops as base" concept, you can go minimalist. Lots of spots nearby for a Thermal Plant.

I am using the Cyclops Docking mod here, but you can accomplish the same thing with a PC Charger inside the tube.

I do have a Scanner Room off camera, but that is a temporary setup that I carry in a cabinet near the hatch of the Cyclops.

Tree Cove is perfectly fine for a base as long as the Moonpool is high enough, you can position it so that the Seamoth can dock undamaged but still be within jump-jet range of the floor for the PRAWN, plus there is ample resources and thermal vents as well as no predators (and the brine pools don't hurt you.

It's basically an oasis.

The ledge between the Lost River and the Tree Cove. While the Seamoth cannot go to the tree cove, it can reach the ledge looking down on the Tree Cove. Make a moonpool to store the prawn suit or Seamoth as appropriate.

Make two Moonpools connected. So you can dock the 'Moth and switch to the PRAWN by walking across, and vice versa.

It can go all the way in to the Tree Cove, just not along the floor...
