You do not have this game so you can not fix it (steam must think that the game was already downloaded and is damaged).
1: That's why you need to start downloading it.
2: Stop downloading, the game downloaded to a folder other than the installed game, that's why you have to log out of steam,
3: move the game that started download, to the games folder (the one with the appropriate acf file)
4: complete with the files you have
5: log in to steam and ask to fix the game
if you do not follow the steps properly, the operation will not succeed
for this you need some minimum level of knowledge how it all works
edit:
It seems to me that when it comes only to the download time, it will be easier for you to simply download the game
Modifying the acf variable's value was an idea i got from this discussion = https://steamcommunity.com/app/367500/discussions/0/451851477868379053/#c451851477868695959
Now sure, it tricked Steam for a moment, but afterwards it downloaded the whole game anyway
This, as i checked just now, might be because i have completely different version LOL
Public release is 68598, current Beta release is 69746
My installed version was 69607
As it downloads older public release version, i guess my current file only match few of the public release file
Maybe it's some version from the xbox console.
But I think you did something wrong, it should work, I assume that the download should be up to 2 gb. But that's no longer the case.
This instruction is not good that you linked.

There's nothing cool in this movie, boring and tiring, nothing more.
Then when it's done with that and you can push the play button, right click on the library entry for subnautica and then properties, local files, verify game files.
Once it is done doing that, you are good to go.
Probably even on a dial-up modem.
Jfc this thread is still going, i made my profile public for the first time since i made my steam account for the sole purpose of proving that i indeed bought the game, and people still bithing about piracy here, yada yada yada.
I've said above that i know pirating is bad which is why i admitted doing so. But i did so because Subnautica doesn't have demo version, and i was planning to buy the game.
I propose to close the topic.
It's pretty easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. As shown by certain peoples comments in this post (not that I want to start naming any names....).
As to demos. Steam does refunds.
If you're still having fun with a game after an hour and a half and want to play more, chances are good you are having fun with it.
By the way, out of interest on the subject of;
Does it really take three or more days to download a game of this size in your area of the planet?
I do know for that fact that the time counter for steam downloads can list time not only in minutes and hours. but also in days and up to months. Found that one out the fun way once (download time listed for Civ Beyond Earth, 3+ years).
I've never done that.
I thought there was such a possibility
In that case, I think you should make such a request to moderation, I think there should be no problem with this when you are the creator of the topic.
