Why is so hard to build anything?
I've spent the last hour trying to put 3 pods together. Why is building so unintuitive on this game?

Pods? What pods?
Bases are quite easy to build...

I agree with Dirak.
But there are some concepts and misconceptions that can make getting started frustrating, I guess.
Tell us more about what you were trying to do, take and post a screenshot or two, and perhaps we can help make it more comfortable for you.

PS - I assume that by "pods" you mean Habitat Compartments, I-tube, X-tube, etc. Pods is actually a pretty good shorthand, except that the word is already used in-game for about 2-3 other things.

It takes under 5 seconds to construct a basic tube. I don't understand the complaint.

Elements can be rotated.

If you are annoyed about wasting time learning how to build in your Survival or Hardcore playthrough, start a Creative, go to the same spot or a similar spot, and build, test, re-build to your heat's content, no harm no foul. Then return to your "serious" playthrough and whip up your perfect base.

I haven't found construction to be unintuitive at all. The ONLY things that threw me off a little were the Moonpool and the Scanner pods, since these don't show their linking connectors when you're trying to position them. They add themselves after the unit is built.

It took a legitimate full minute for me to figure out how these worked.

(I got the game as giveaways on Epic Games, hence the lack of mouse cursor icon thingie.)

I agree that building things is generally pretty intuitive, but it can be tedious as F if you want to be precise with module emplacements. I build my bases for looks about as much as I build them for their usefullness and believe me, trying to get that all-purpose room exactly at the center of a pylon on the grassy fields or the moonpool right in the middle of a canyon really is annoying...
No idea if that's what the OP meant but whatev.

Edit: oh and don't get me started with the pillars under the base going all over the place willy-nilly...

You should see my Lost River base... the moon pool looks like a star-wars ATAT with the scanner pod attached to the other end. It's nearly laughable, and yeah, the rest of the base supports make the whole thing look like a centipede on stilts.

That's... actually a good idea!
I love it. I might steal it for my next base! :s_xd:

You want tough positioning, Minoris? Start your base with a Scanner Room placed EXACTLY with 0,18,0 drectly under the big blue spot in the floor. Facing in a cardinal direction.

Tip: If you don't start the base with the Scanner Room, you will NEVER get it precisely right.

(I will accept "within 1 meter in any direction", since that is as close as I have ever gotten.) :steamhappy::steamhappy:

Sure...
I can even tell you it was in december 2018 mate. ;)
I own like 30 games on Epic. None of them I had to buy. I refuse to buy anything on Epic and am against piracy, but if they want to throw their Fortnite money away, I'll gladly take it from them.

But we're getting way off topic. Doubt all you want now, I can't do anything about it so whatev.

Relax, I believe you. Just messing around.

After 92 hours of gameplay (ok, stretched over like 5 fresh game starts + I was relaxing, not ambitious and rushing things, not watching videos, not even the trailers) I understood how to build a building and actually enter it. By now I have like a ton of modules collected - probably everything thats above 250 meters sorted in about 20 container boxes and it all started to be a pain again. That´s when at some point I always uninstalled the game because after some time of not playing I was forgetting where my items are and game turned into a huge search for items in one of my 20 container boxes.

I have no idea if this is real but in my opinion I found the "door" module (sorry I forgot how it´s really called in english) that allows entering the base just now after so many hours. We need to find it in the ocean, right? So either I just found it now in the building menu, or somewhere in the world, I don´t know. But it took me a loong time to understand how to enter a building. Didn´t even upgrade my Seamoth until now, didn´t realize the "dock" module can be used and entered without a door, because if you try to build it the model looks like a closed brick, so I thought ok no building, I can´t enter it anyway.

As an experienced gamer I was either stupid, blind, or someone forgot to explain me some details. But the troubling and searching for progress of the "door" module has been much fun.

Does this anwer your question?

Oh I realize only 30% found the Degasi basis (Steam Achievement shows ~30%). Which means most people didn´t find some interesting buildings and didn´t explore the beauty of the game. Which probably shows that many people had problems to upgrade their stuff and quit the game. The overwhealming positive rating shows they liked it just like me, but there probably was a time they lost patience with dicovery of the base modules and therefore also the true deepness of the game.

Place the immersion chamber first then build your base around it, because it can be put much higher than other modules and does not rotate.
