Bases are quite easy to build...
But there are some concepts and misconceptions that can make getting started frustrating, I guess.
Tell us more about what you were trying to do, take and post a screenshot or two, and perhaps we can help make it more comfortable for you.
PS - I assume that by "pods" you mean Habitat Compartments, I-tube, X-tube, etc. Pods is actually a pretty good shorthand, except that the word is already used in-game for about 2-3 other things.
Elements can be rotated.
It took a legitimate full minute for me to figure out how these worked.
I agree that building things is generally pretty intuitive, but it can be tedious as F if you want to be precise with module emplacements. I build my bases for looks about as much as I build them for their usefullness and believe me, trying to get that all-purpose room exactly at the center of a pylon on the grassy fields or the moonpool right in the middle of a canyon really is annoying...
No idea if that's what the OP meant but whatev.
Edit: oh and don't get me started with the pillars under the base going all over the place willy-nilly...
You should see my Lost River base... the moon pool looks like a star-wars ATAT with the scanner pod attached to the other end. It's nearly laughable, and yeah, the rest of the base supports make the whole thing look like a centipede on stilts.
I love it. I might steal it for my next base!
Tip: If you don't start the base with the Scanner Room, you will NEVER get it precisely right.
(I will accept "within 1 meter in any direction", since that is as close as I have ever gotten.)
I own like 30 games on Epic. None of them I had to buy. I refuse to buy anything on Epic and am against piracy, but if they want to throw their Fortnite money away, I'll gladly take it from them.
But we're getting way off topic. Doubt all you want now, I can't do anything about it so whatev.
I have no idea if this is real but in my opinion I found the "door" module (sorry I forgot how it´s really called in english) that allows entering the base just now after so many hours. We need to find it in the ocean, right? So either I just found it now in the building menu, or somewhere in the world, I don´t know. But it took me a loong time to understand how to enter a building. Didn´t even upgrade my Seamoth until now, didn´t realize the "dock" module can be used and entered without a door, because if you try to build it the model looks like a closed brick, so I thought ok no building, I can´t enter it anyway.
As an experienced gamer I was either stupid, blind, or someone forgot to explain me some details. But the troubling and searching for progress of the "door" module has been much fun.
Does this anwer your question?
Oh I realize only 30% found the Degasi basis (Steam Achievement shows ~30%). Which means most people didn´t find some interesting buildings and didn´t explore the beauty of the game. Which probably shows that many people had problems to upgrade their stuff and quit the game. The overwhealming positive rating shows they liked it just like me, but there probably was a time they lost patience with dicovery of the base modules and therefore also the true deepness of the game.
