Does anyone know if there is a set amount of nights/days before the sea emperor pops up on your screen? The sea emperor appeared on my first visit to the lost river which I think is quite unusual.

20 hours? That can't be right. I've had her show up far sooner; like in files where I've completed the game in under 6 hours.

Yeah, the game is actually quite short if you know exactly what to do and where to go, while skipping all the exploration on the side.

Just to provide some clarity to the messages and when they appear, the first one ONLY APPEARS after your first attempt to turn off the gun and after if I counted right ten in-game days. So in other words, how much time you spent doesn't matter, once you try to push that button is when the timer for that first one begins.

They're based on completing certain events in-game, and some have a time delay after that.

"What... are... you" happens an hour after first visiting the QEP or 20 minutes after visiting the DRC
"Come here... to me" happens after picking up the blue tablet
"I am what you seek" happens right as you approach the PCF.

Because of the timing delay of the first message, it's possible to meet the Sea Emperor and watch her die and then still get that message after, which is a bug. There are other dialogue bugs that happen if you rush a cure, not counting the alternate Sunbeam message.

idk really, first playthrough she appeared before id gotten a seamoth and on my current playthrough she only appeared when i reached the lava zone

That's how it works, the very first message from her ONLY happens after you attempt to turn off the gun, so in your circumstance you SWAM all the way to the island with the platform, tried to turn it off, SWAM back to your lifepod and the amount of days required to pass before that message is sent to you was reached just as you built the Seamoth, as for the laval zone... that means you skipped over the Blue Tablet which if I remember right is in the Lost River base.

her visions may not trigger sometimes because you dont spend enought time in a correct location. her triggers can be really bizarre and can be delayed for no obvious reasons.

There should be a message that plays when you pick up Alien Feces for the first time.

Reading this thread makes me wonder if the Sea Emporer was inspiration for the AL-AN mechanic in Below Zero.
