Thermal Plant, and What I Need to get there.
I wanna go to the thermal plant. I just finished at the Disease Research Facility and the Laboratory Cache. I got Prawn Depth Mk1. I got Cyclops with Thermal Generator, Engine Efficiency, Mk1 depth, and Sheild Generator. (I got the Thermal Generator from a Time Capsule, since I've never been to the lava zones and need kyanite to make it) My Prawn has Propulsion Cannon and Grapple Arms. It has a jump jet upgrade. I'll soon have drill arms. I got the Reinforced Diving Suit, Rebreather, and Ultra High Capacity Tank. Do I need anything else? Where is the enterance? (If there are multiple, what's the best?)

I've been in the Primary Containment Facility in Creative Mode.

You need to be able to go deep, and that's about it for basics.

The grapple of the prawn will be useful (but when is it not?). A cyclops is useful as it's a long trip and there's a few times when being in a big metal box that can make itself unnoticeable to any large fire shooting lizards is handy, but you can get in and out without one, just pack for a long trip. You'll also want at least two purple tablets and if you don't have the drill one ion cube on you.

If you are going with just the prawn, take at least the stasis rifle. If you do take the cyclops, take it anyway.

As for getting in, the tunnel to the lost river from the bulb zone goes there if you take the down option when you reach the ghost instead of going past it, otherwise just head into the lost river itself, find the tree and keep going past it until things get really hot and/or orange.

The termal plant is in what's called "the lava castle". Which is to say a mountain sized (and shaped) castle made of hardened lava.
Not to be confused with the castle looking building in a sea of lava. If you find that, you went to deep.

Prawn suit with grapple and drill arms.
You'll want to head down the lost river and look for deposits of kyanite in the area of the ILZ that you can access without going too deep for Depth Mk1.

You need the drill to get kyanite and also mk2 depth upgrades since the plant is located at 1300m depth

Shopping list: Prawn with Grapling hook and Driil arms, MK2 depth module, extra food and water, knife, speed, skill and 2 purple tablets, and maybe a slideglide incase mr Warper decides he wants to play

you only really need the heat protect diving suit and enough food/water and either tons of titanium to make a pipe system down there or to make multiple bases along the way or you can even use brain coral seeds and growbeds to make air or either a PRAWN with mk3 deep diving or the cyclops

And if it matters I have 1 Ion Power Cell in my Cyclops and the rest are normal. I got it from a time capsule.

Including ions and normals, bring 4+ extra power cells. Always have extra power cells on your cyclops.
Always.

Attempting to get drill arm now.

Got it.

Ok, turns out I need Kyanite. How deep is Kyanite?
Husker_85 Apr 16, 2018 @ 7:18pm
Kyanite is in the Inactive Lava Zone. My most recent playthrough I was lucky enough to find an entire storage locker's worth within a 50m area, but if you don't have such luck you could try bringing a scan room with you.

I just visited the ILZ.

I got a lot of Kyanite.

7 peices, enough for Prawn Mk2 which takes 3 peices. I got my Cyclops into the LR Tree Cove and ejected my prawn into the ILR.
