What Was Your Reaction When You Saw Your First Leviathan?

My first encounter wasn't that special. It's the 2nd encounter where ♥♥♥♥ got real.

I swam too far on my seaglide and encountered a Ghost Leviathan out of nowhere i panicked and high tailed out of there. After a bit of swimming i thought i was safe so decided to take a sip of water cause i was getting dehydrated.

Instantly got "YOU HAVE DIED - GAME OVER" screen.
Did it chase me all the way? I'll never know ..

Anyway lost about 2 hours of progress.
(I picked Hardcore-ish for my first actual run cause i noticed penalty for dying on Survival is too low and penalty on Hardcore is way too steep so i am sort of doing in between with periodic save backups on my Hardcore playthrough - it's still much scarier knowing i need to be extra careful)

Pure panic. Went into game blind. Carefully skirting around the Aurora looking for a way in with the Seamoth, figured I'd be safe in the relatively shallow water. Reaper sneaks up behind me, grabs Seamoth. "oh ♥♥♥♥ oh ♥♥♥♥. Eject eject eject!" Swim away in a panic all the way back to my base in the shallows.

Of course now it's, 'oh, let me drive circles around this guy to mock him' and they are just annoyances.

No putting the Reaper back in the bag, as it were.

I took one look at this thing I could just make out though the murky waters out into the distance away from the safe shallows.
I have heard about the really big creatures in this game shortly before playing it and knew that them wanting to eat you was the normal reaction they had to the player.

A HUGE body with these giant tentacles reaching out in front of it, no doubt to grab the player and prevent them from escaping their doom.
I "NOPED!" it right back from the edge of the safe shallows and decided that were I was, was more than good enough for the foreseeable future.

About a week or so later I found out that what I saw was simply a Reefback. The one type of leviathan that doesn't try to kill you.

Does reefback count? It is a leviathan, just a nice one. I found that first out of the leviathan class but didn't know if it was nice or not so I panicked a bit, slowly inched closer...and eventually decided to see how many floaters I could stick to it (since this was back in early access, this did not go well). Learned not to do that again.

Fist time seeing an aggressive leviathan? I quite literally sang the "F*** that s*** im out" song the entire time i made my way back home.

well technically reefbacks are the first leviathan I saw and I thought it was cool. But obviously you mean reapers so ill be honest, I ♥♥♥♥ myself.
