I bet if you had simply stayed away from this thread and question it would've been more useful for everyone.
I will apologize for being rude but I can't agree I was unhelpful. Several people were claiming VR controllers did not work at all which is inaccurate. Additionally bumping this thread, which google search was ranking highly, caused someone else to post a mod, so it is definitely and demonstrably not the case that leaving the thread alone would be better. This thread had recent activity before I showed so I was not necroing the thread.
Nonetheless I will appologize for being rude and abrasive. I will only apologize for things I actually do but this half of your complaint at least is correct.
you're about to have an amazing experience :)
also check out vrperfkit and the subnautica perf mod.
steam discussions are 50% toxic cesspits at best, it's practically tradition. as a rule many to most of the people that make it a cesspit don't realize they're doing so. The social lack of awareness paradox.
Not sure if serious
No idea why you're babbling about cardboard VR and phones etc. Irrelevent.
But ya, there is a new mod called SubmersedVR which adds motion controllers and hands, good for the scanner and building your base. You can use your hand as the "cursor" instead of your face.
Why would they? It specifically says on the store page you need K+M or a xbox controller.
If it makes you feel any better he deleted all his posts in this thread. Probably when he realized how ludicrous and unrealistic his suggestion to use google cardboard was.
That was not the reason.
I'm just sick of these conversations, I've decided to limit my speech in few popular games (steam vr, subnaitica, boneworks). For some reason, in popular games, there's an over-representation of people I don't want to hang out with. I'm tired of wasting my time on people who can't appreciate it.
In subnaitica I have over 400 hours (vr only). I've played almost every popular vr game. I have a great knowledge of VR, I know how works and what every VR headset priced up to $2,000 (and more, counting without accessories) represents, new & old. Technical details, how it works, pros and cons, because each of them has advantages and disadvantages.
In these games, when I share my knowledge, only a few people appreciate it. On the other hand, in these games I often get answers like yours. Trying to ridicule me and accusing me.
A lot of people could use my answer, put their phone in the box, and explore the amazing world of vr, the two of you don't believe it, and instead of typing one sentence into the search engine, you're mocking me.
I took my toys, I have no desire to see you again.
Now I'm unsubscribing from the topic, sit in your swamp, in each other's company.
edit:
You're right, I should tell you my reasons.
There are probably people here who read and don't write, I owe them a few words.
That's why I wrote this reply.
You can believe whatever you want but trying to play Subnautica on Google cardboard is silly, unrealistic, and highly doubtful it could work. So suggesting it as a legitimate way to play is just foolish. If you were someone I actually knew I would offer $100 if they could actually get Subnautica to work on google cardboard just to watch that person quickly back down.
