The reason why I asked here is because I thought it was around 30-40 minutes. In that case asking in the forum would be quicker than figuring out on my own by waiting in front of it.
It turns out it's only a matter of 1-2 minutes. So waiting in front of it is no big deal.
If you want to do a major harvest (i.e. filling the entire Prawn storage or your own with cubes), definitely bring along some extra food and water and prepare to do other things in real life in the background while you wait. The cubes make a sound when they're ready, which will let you know when to come back. Equipping the Stillsuit in this case will also save some time and space. Alternatively, you can plant your own food in the Sea Emperor's aquarium in a growbed (or build an entire base there if you really want).
I read and understand your reasonings. Just pointing that out. In hindsight.
My roomate and I have a sprawling rediculously pointless mega base in that Aquarium.
There's a finite surplus amount of Ion Cubes in the games. Granted there are more things to do with the Ion Cubes, however their uses are limited and static, and due to the map's limited size, the short length of the story, and the actual use of said crafted Ion Cube dependant items, it balances out to just about the "same"
Below Zero has 4 Ion Cube deposits to drill, and a l o t of single Ion Cubes out and ready to be grabbed by hand.
But a good idea for a mod none the less.
