Please note that Quest 2 has higher resolution than index, so if you're on budget, you could just grab it Quest 2, as long as you don't mind having a Facebook account.
And like the other guy said - you'll be still playing with a gamepad.
Second is frame rate, refresh rate, frequency.
Its an amazing experience if you havent tried it, go try it.
Games like DCS, flight sims, you wont look back, NOTHING beats that heads up VR display, nothing, because its just like the real jet and the fly by wire system.
VR has some really really strong points and it also has weak points where games just dont code dedicated for VR first and formost, which always leaves it a bit of a, what it could have been'', potential feeling playing many of these games with VR.
You want the best, try these suckers, The Reverb G2's.
They smash the steam oculus one [ though steam helped to develop this one also ] and pretty much all others out there also.
Higher resolution see.
There is another that has a higher refresh rate at 120, the one above is refreshing at 80htz this one below is at 120htz BUT its resolution is lower.
Refresh rate: 120Hz (144Hz experimental mode) Field of view: 130-degrees. Tracking: 6DoF. Weight: 1.79 pounds Valve's Index headset is the latest and greatest in PC-based VR that will fill each of your eyeballs with 1,440 x 1,600 pixels at a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Using keyboard/mouse works in VR, except you can't see the keyboard. So it's harder to control. Using a bluetooth controller such as an Xbox One or PS4 controller works best in VR. Expect your neck to get tired after a while. Also, there's some issues with the camera not lining up properly with the avatar. Especially when you first start a game. Still amazing, but not well done. There's a reason why the devs decided not to go with native VR support for Below Zero.
