Habitat Builder stops at 50%
Hi I am new to Subnautica playing on the PS4 and I am sometimes but not always having trouble adding new items to my bases with my Habitat Builder starting to add the item, but then when it gets to about 50% completed, it stops. The Habitat Builder controller does have battery power (though it may not be at 100%).

I have four examples of when this happened to me.

On Base #1 at the threshold of the Safe Shallows and the Kelp Forrest I have a base that was setup to stored resources and fabricate new items. Presently it has one solar panel and I have tried adding a second panel to it, but when I do, the Habitat Builder controller stops the build at 50% completed.

On Base #2 at the threshold of the Kelp Forest and the Grassy Plateaus, this is a repeat of what happened at Base #1 where I was able to add one solar panel but am unable to add a second panel.

On Base #2 I was able to successfully add one fully sized indoor grow bed as well as add one single plant planter. But when I attempt to add another planter it too gets stuck at 50%.

On Base #2 once again I am able to add a series of storage lockers, but while there is still plenty of space to add more and the game does permit me to start the build to add yet another locker cabinet, I can't because it too gets stuck at 50%.

I thought on Base #2 the reason why I was unable to the items inside the base because I was getting low on electricity (I am about 85 meters below sea level here). But why can't I add more than one solar panel. Any ideas why some of these build attempts can initiate, but get stuck at 50% completed? Am I missing some rule about the battery levels? Or is this a major bug with the PS4 release and might explain why it is free to download the game right now on the PSN?

Are you sure you have sufficient materials in your inventory? The building will stop halfway if you don't have all of the materials you need to complete it.

Thxs for the quick reply. I was certain I had sufficient resources. In fact I thought you could not even start the build without the resources. However I will double check the next time. In fact as a test I will carry twice as many of the specified resource the next time. Oh but on the topic of the lack of resources, the single wall mounted storage locker only need one Titanium resource to build right? But even that one sometimes (not always) stops at 50%. Nevertheless I will double check next time.

You can start a build without the materials - I remember being surprised by that, but it's actually useful for planning. The wall locker needs two titanium.

Thxs for the replies, Next time I will double check to make sure I have the proper number of resources just in case this was my issue.

I was able to add a second solar panel to Base #2, so yeah I guess it was a lack of resources issue. Good to know that the game will allow us to begin building an item, but it won't complete the build without all the required resources. Consider this thread closed. Thxs for the help MadBone12.

Glad to hear it was something simple :HexoHappy:

You can start building without the right amount of resources, but the building process will stop if you don't have them. Go find some titanium

There's a glitch related to this that can be used to help you in a bind. If you partially deconstruct certain base items, you will slowly get some of the resources back, however, those base items will still continue to work until fully deconstructed.

So, if you have one solar panel constructed but are missing the ingredients to complete the second, it's possible to partially deconstruct the first panel and "borrow" its resources it to complete the second. You'll then receive the power from both panels despite one appearing ghosted.
