No more safe shallows?
Maybe its just me but traditionally the area the your pod crashes down in is actually safe (ish). Seems now I'm getting one or more stalkers where they shouldn't be making early exploring in a new game more difficult. Anyone know why these stalkers are not staying out of the shallow areas?

they gained increased aggro/territory range from the dangerous creatures update and since theres always a weed forest near your area and the metal things tend to fall at random places that could explain the stalkers

oh joy.. maybe they can give us base defenses to keep an area clear :)

No reason, the fish have always gone outside there biome.
And stalkers are near the safe shallows, so yeah no change.

never used to have them that close... I'm experienced enough at least to be able to deal with it but a new player might have some troubles

I just wack them once with my knife and that sends them off. They're so narrow it's not that hard to dodge to the side and then attack. The only really difficult part might be getting the clusters for the knife, but I usually just swim over really fast, snag them, and then swim back to the pod, never looking back.

Nevermind the stalkers, I have a sandshark nesting under my pod, and a couple next to my base. Would be nice if they went back home.

I've started building my base under the life pod and now I' ve got a reaper leviathan constantly patrolling the area and trashing my sea moth wherever I try to hide it!

Stalkers have always been an occasional starting hazard (unfortunately), but it shouldn't happen every spawn, just once in a while. Every so often, near the lifepod or not, I'll see a stalker or two that have "moved out" of their kelp forest and set up shop about 50 to 100 meters away, for no apparent reason. But it's usually only one or two, and not that common.

The Sandsharks are the real problem. They multiply VERY quickly (like 1 to 2 per day at times), fight both the Stalkers and Gasopods (breaking their leashes and potentially chasing them or being chased themselves into very bad spots like right below your pod, right outside your base, etc.). The Gasopods pin you in, as well. Being so close to the surface, you can get caught between rocks, Gasopod clouds, and sandsharks with nowhere to run. At least in the Plateau or Kelp Forest you can break for the surface.

Most games from the last two updates I end up in a pattern where I go out resource gathering for a day, and when I come back there are 2 to 3 new Sandsharks near my base that need exterminating. Rinse and repeat, nearly every single day...

Thankfully I don't have a sandshark problem and ya the situation is managable just fine. The problem now is the blasted new you have to scan 2 fragments before you get the multipurpose room but good luck ever finding the second one in the wreck problem. Sigh...

Hrm, I've only really had one guest set up shop nearby. A Stalker, but he usually takes off when I hack him with the knife. I can understand it getting really bad with gasopods, stalkers and sand sharks all teaming up on you but I've never personally seen it. Their spawn points can actually change? I mean if you have your base in grassy plateaus that's just a hazard but that shouldn't happen in the shallows.

I have more deaths related to gasopods living under my pod than to sandsharks lol

I've scaned one. And btw thereis a dead base on floating island not so far away from a Aurora. With lots of plants and parts under the air that can be scaned without diving.
