The map ends at the Dead Zone (About 1500 meters away from Lifepod 5), but if you manage to go far enough, you can escape the dead zone, where there will be no sea floor but no Ghost Leviathans. But if you do manage to go far enough, you will eventually be teleported back to the safe shallows.

The Void biome around the crater extends ~200-500m away from the crater's edge (depending on direction). Beyond that there is still a "void," but the Ghost Leviathans stop spawning. It's technically possible to build a base in that area if you want to. It'll be boring, but it's perfectly safe.

In the pics below, you can see the exact point at which I cross the boundary between the Void biome and just empty void (look at the LD biome). This happens around 2050 meters away from the center of the map.

Once you go 8,192 meters away from the map center, you're teleported back to the center in the safe shallows.

I mentioned above that building a base in the "post-void" biome was possible, so I figured I'd do it and post some of the images here.

I built this base due south of the 0,0,0 point, above 350 meters above the edge of the Grand Reef. At that point, the void only extends out about 220 meters. The base starts in that biome, has a glass walkway that goes through the void into the post-void, and then ends with a multip-purpose room and sky deck in the post-void that has no biome name and no longer spawns the Ghost Leviathans.
