I feel like the game could have benefited from just a couple more vehicles, though, as well as a couple more above-water islands and a couple more sea base room types. Things that fulfill a niche that nothing else does so there's no redundancy, obviously.
Yeah, I think the irony is supposed to come from the fact that it's a sub, not because the name is tempting fate.
I do not name my subs, they are just tools to move around in.
Gotta be able to tell them apart, though, with something a little more obvious than a single digit that can be obscured and lead you in the wrong direction when you're desperate for air and trying to swim back to the right vehicle. And it's even more important if you have multiples of the same vehicle type. And if you're gonna do that, it might as well be something you like, and can easily and quickly mentally identify and associate with whatever you may need in a given situation. I don't want to be quickly swimming back to my defensive Seamoth to activate the electric deterrent and hopefully repel a Reaper only to realize too late that I'm swimming towards the scouting one which is currently over 500m away.
Maybe. Too bad there's not, like, just a boat as a vehicle, that'd be perfect. A little speed boat that works like a duck (or DUKW) boat, something that goes faster than the other vehicles and can go on land, but is only able to stay on the surface of the water. It'd be nice to have something like a shark cage, too, with an air pump and pipe system attached so that you can dive straight down (as far as the line connecting you will allow) while being semi-protected from hostile creatures. Then you could leave the cage once you reach the bottom, explore around, and be able to return to the cage when your oxygen runs low, or if you're being chased, jump inside and make it ascend quickly. That'd be fun, it would feel like those elevator scenes in horror movies. And most importantly, it would be a LOT less of a pain in the ass to deal with than having to build one of those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pipe chains with the floating pump at the top. It would save a lot of time and frustration, I hate dealing with those things. That's a problem that desperately needs to be solved and a niche that desperately needs to be filled, in this game. Also, it would be nice to maybe be able to upgrade it so you can switch out the cage for a PRAWN suit. That way, you don't have to choose between taking forever to get somewhere with the awkward maneuvering it has, or trying to work your way through certain hard-to-navigate areas with the Cyclops, or just building a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of PRAWNs and leaving them lying around at various points. That would all be a very helpful QoL improvement, and would give me some more blueprints to hunt for, too.
TL;DR I want a boat in this game. Just a boat. Not a sub, not a cool-ass robot, not what is obviously an industrial-grade sybian that someone redesigned to propel you through water, just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boat. That can go real fast. There's a lot of area to cover in this game, I feel like too much of my time is spent traveling or waiting for an area to load after I use thewarp gates.
